About this deal

Made from aluminium and designed in the UK by specialist audio equipment manufacturers, the EvermixBox4 is light (85g) but highly durable and designed to withstand even the most chaotic DJ booth! iOS COMPATIBILITY: Evermix, as a company, are specialist audio equipment manufacturers based in the UK with a growing reputation amongst the DJ community.

After you’ve had a chance to set it up, however, it’s important to note that there are a few interesting uses and factors behind it to consider. Evermix can run via an iPhone or Android smartphone which the Evermix App allows for. Evermix App The Evermix Box 4 is an interface we featured in our How to Record you DJ sets article. The device can also be used to input line level audio to a phone for streaming. Unfortunately unlike the Roland GO:Mixer you can’t plug in speakers and use it as a pass through. This means users with only one output on their controllers will need to use RCA splitters, available here.

Knowing your DJ mixer outputs

The EvermixBox4 is the latest evolution of the multi-award nominated MixBox2 - already trusted by thousands of DJs, promoters and venues. Plug the RCA to 3.5mm into the Attenuator. DJ equipment outputs at line level volume, unfortunately your phone is expecting a mic level input. The attenuator allows the user to reduce the volume down to Mic level to avoid distortion and clipping. You can skip the attenuator but you will need to set your output levels on your controller very low! Professional standard audio straight to your Android or iOS smartphone - the one thing that's always with you

Either way, you can then choose to send it off to as many places as you want, be it other people or to a cloud storage locations (like iCloud, Google Drive, or Dropbox). You’re able to record on either WAV or AAC. AAC has either 192 or 320, though if you’re a fan of 256 you’re going to be missing out. Once you have your mixers drivers installed, open the setting utility software that came with the driver. From here we can see the inputs and outputs of the mixer. On the output section, ensure one of the channels is set to REC OUT. Most modern Pioneer mixers will have a dedicated channel called MIX that is automatically set to REC OUT as seen below. Evermix Box 4 is the latest evolution of the MixBox2 - already trusted by many DJs, promoters and venues. EverMixBox4 delivers the same high quality audio recordings whilst adding exciting new features, making it the ultimate box for recording DJ sets to you iOS or Android device.

Now we know which port to plug into, let’s take a look at the various devices we can use to record the output from the mixer. These come in various shapes and sizes, but essentially all we are looking for is a device that can record line-level audio. Some of the most popular ones on the market are as follows: If your mixer is older and only has the four usual channels, we need to decide which channel to use for outputting the mix. We can’t use a channel that will be used by DVS. If you aren’t using DVS while recording, you can skip this step. Recording your set whilst using DVS On the apps that you’ve recorded onto such as the Pioneer or Evermix app it seems there are functions to achieve similar post editing outcomes. 8. Upload & share your mix All these things bring challenges; however, our PIONEER CDJ MASTERCLASS course can arm you with the tools and techniques for stepping up to a pro DJ set up.

However, not every mixer does, in which case we need to take the feed from a master two-port. Let’s look at the main differences between the two ports, so you know why it’s always better to use the REC OUT if possible. What is a REC OUT and why’s it better than Master 2? This little cassette tape looking device is small and practical little thing. Simplistic in design, easy to use, lightweight and easy to carry around with you. Arguably the cheapest option to go with recording your DJ sets, however the cost of a smartphone e.g. Samsung or iPhone are pretty steep.

Once you’ve finished up, you can then add your three genres up to represent your mix before titling it and uploading it, directly from the free Evermix app itself. Again, this is important since the EvermixBox 4 specified OTG support and running Nougat 7.0 and above. Other Smart Uses Easy 'plug in and play' system lets you set up in seconds - no messing about before you take to the stage Studio-grade external sound cards can be quite expensive, but we don’t always need to spend that much to record a mix. If you do own a small sound card such as the Focusrite Scarlet 2i2, you can easily use this to record your mix. Many DJ’s will be unaware that DVS sound cards such as the range of Rane SL interfaces and Denon DS1 can also be used as a regular sound card for recording purposes. The price is pretty balanced in comparison to other recording devices, but if you’re not comfortable using your phone in a club environment then this might not be the one for you.

You don’t necessarily need to post edit your mix. I would say it is worth doing if you want the sound quality to be boosted and a bit higher. The other benefit in editing it is taking out dead sound at the beginning or end. The new EvermixBox 4 now has an auxiliary mic input ideal for capturing ambient noise like crowds cheering as you drop that mix. Compatible with iOS 9 or later on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch with lightning connector port or USB C port ANDROID COMPATIBILITY: You could also offer it up as a live streaming audio interface, using it to Livestream high-quality audio via apps like YouTube, Twitch, and leading streaming apps. The apps appear to be ridiculously easy to upload to other platforms such as Soundcloud or Mixcloud. Starting with the Evermix app. The Evermix app allows the software to run on both iOS as well as Android and allows users to record mixes as well as perform simple edits before sharing. We guarantee you’ll become the best DJ you can be and help you stay on top of your game with ongoing support, lifelong access to all our industry certified DJ courses and plenty of exclusive extras. The app is great as it allows you to submit and share your DJ mixes straight to Mixcloud and Soundcloud. The app is intuitive and practical as there are controls withing the app to edit audio levels at specific points throughout the audio recording.
