The goal for this project is to make a DIY power meter using the PZEM-004T v3 to monitor your power consumption, and since IoT is the new norm for remote monitoring, we can also interface the power meter with an IoT dashboard through Wi-Fi connection using the Wemos D1 mini microcontroller to visualize the meter readings online where you can access it using your computer or smartphone. Nevertheless, I would suggest using an Arduino with PZEM and view the measurements on Arduino's serial monitor. Using 5V from Sonoff for PZEM TTL port is safe but the resistor mod explained above must be undone and another mod is needed for dropping the PZEM TX line from 5V to 3.I wanted to add energy monitoring to my home automation setup, without too much custom hardware, but it had to be relatively cheap. You need to compile your own Tasmota firmware as none of the pre-compiled binaries have support for display and PZEM module. What I’d do is measure the input current: feed a low measured current into the PZEM and see what it reads - starting very low - say 10 mA and gradually increase the current until it reads about half-scale.

That’s very unfortunate but I can assure you nobody will be able to help you properly if you don’t provide logs. PZEM-004T module is very easy to use in programming using various types of microcontroller boards such as Arduino, ESP8266, STM32, WeMos, NodeMCU, Raspberry Pi etc.

I use the pzem004t v2 ( esphome pzem004t component) and a pzem004t v3 ( esphome pzemac component) successfully with esphome.
