About this deal

Some of the technologies we use are necessary for critical functions like security and site integrity, account authentication, security and privacy preferences, internal site usage and maintenance data, and to make the site work correctly for browsing and transactions. To enable personalised advertising (like interest-based ads), we may share your data with our marketing and advertising partners using cookies and other technologies. Our packaging is discreet and we do everything to minimise the chance of anyone guessing the contents of the parcel. Celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee took place throughout 1977 and The Royal Mint commemorated the occasion with a Silver Jubilee crown. This silver Twenty Pound edition features a one-off double portrait of the Queen and her Consort, both facing right.

They come in a snap-lock plastic bag, ready to be added to your collection, all coins are in Fine condition and you get one coin of every date 1947-1951.Although designs by Bernard Sindall were considered for the coin, designs by Arnold Machin RA were eventually chosen to appear on both the obverse and the reverse of the coin. The sixpence was a popular denomination and the year 1953 saw the highest number of sixpences struck since 1948. The reverse designed by Arnold Machin has the initials EP and the wording Elizabeth and Philip 20 November 1947 - 1972. They might look like ordinary coins but they are generally worth much more, thanks to their scarcity, finish and composition. Most commemorative coins produced by The Royal Mint are available in a range of striking standards including Gold Proof, Silver Proof, Brilliant Uncirculated and Bullion.

Some modern UK coins naturally develop toning or milk spots over time and these features may be present on the coin you receive. The new Queen Memorial crown portrays a younger and older Queen Elizabeth and the dates 1926 – 2022. Founded in the reign of Alfred the Great, around the year 886, The Royal Mint was originally one of several mints which were centralised to London in 1279. HM Queen Elizabeth II was our longest reigning monarch, and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh was our longest serving consort.

The absence of an inscription denoting the face value now causes some confusion, particularly because, as from 1990, it appears to have been decided that future crowns would assume a Five Pounds face value. All transactions were good and amazed at how quick my parcel was shipped out and received the following day!

I would say that BCC are the best company in the UK when it comes to used and brand new coins and coin sets. These are not regarded as faulty or damaged goods as their precious metal content and value as a bullion coin is not affected. Queen Elizabeth II was not a monarch when she and Prince Philip were married in 1947 so no commemorative coins were struck – however, this set includes a COMPLETE line-up of the British coins from 1947: farthing, halfpenny, penny, sixpence, both English and Scottish shillings, florin and halfcrown. This Pre-Owned 1972 Elizabeth and Philip Silver Proof Crown Coin was issued to commemorate the 25th wedding anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.
