About this deal

Elizabeth, a high school teacher, appears to have the perfect adult life—she has a beautiful house a teenage son, and a seemingly loving husband. When one of her students, Daisy, appears upset during class—she questions her to make sure she is okay. Elizabeth discovers that Daisy was sexually assaulted at a party—but by WHO?? Early childhood education is vital for future student success. At young ages, students are constantly learning and growing, ready to absorb new material each and every day. However, each child is unique and the same methods won’t work for all of them. It took me awhile to get into this book, but once the twists start (and there are LOTS), it’s pretty hard to put this book down! What I’ve learned from working with amazing teachers and students in hundreds of schools around the world I really appreciate NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this and give my honest review before it is released next month.

The Teacher: A Shocking and Compelling New Crime Thriller

I have a fear of whales. All whales. The noise they make. The sight of them (even on tv). I don't think this phobia has a name and I've never met anyone else who feels this way. I blame it on the 3D movie when I was 7 at the Boston Museum of Science. (Thanks Dad.) I currently live in Charlotte, North Carolina with my husband and seven year old son. I have perfected the ability to write in a noisy house and create story lines while folding laundry. Today all my worst fears came true. I thought I had escaped the dark secrets of my teenage years. But when my son is accused by one of my students of a crime I know only too well, my past comes hurtling into my present. I would like to thank #DanielleStewart, #Netgalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #TheTeacher in exchange for an honest review. Much of what happens in a classroom is highly variable and hard to define, but over the last 10 years a wealth of books has sought to draw together evidence from other fields and provide a series of “best bets” on what might have the greatest impact on student learning. Here are just a few of them. Why Don’t Students Like School? by Daniel WillinghamBeyond character differences, children show a range of different developmental needs in the classroom. With Kerry Murphy’s Supporting the Wellbeing of Children with SEND: Essential Ideas for Early Years Educators, early years practitioners gain access to a play-rich approach designed to make children feel “safe, secure and nurtured.” Based on education research, this text breaks down the four broad areas of need for young learners and provides teachers with meaningful practices to support each student. The author crafted an intriguing plot with twists and turns that leave you wondering if any of the main characters are truly trustworthy. The FMC experienced many heartbreaking events in her life that may be triggering for some but I thought the author did a good job writing them into the story with sensitivity. I made a key decision when writing this book that the most useful thing I could do for the reader is to describe as clearly as possible how I apply these tips in my classroom, instead of trying to guess how you might apply them in yours. While the English work was titled The Piano Teacher, the title in German means the piano player; it is also clear that the player is female because of the noun's feminine ending. There were so many red flags as I read deeper in to the book. I was actually shaking my head and saying aloud what are you doing?? Elizabeth became way too involved in Daisy’s life for a teacher.

The Teacher" by Danielle Stewart, published by Bookouture, takes readers on a rollercoaster of twists and turns. As an educator myself, I found the premise intriguing, but there were aspects that left me questioning the credibility of the story. I loved how Elizabeth was a firm believer that education doesn’t have to happen inside the classroom. She had a lot of amazing qualities that I wish I had as a teacher growing up.

The blurb could have been more vague as that reaction did not come right away, but it wasn’t a huge spoiler. The Piano Teacher ( German: Die Klavierspielerin) is a novel by Austrian Nobel Prize winner Elfriede Jelinek, first published in 1983 by Rowohlt Verlag. Translated by Joachim Neugroschel, it was the first of Jelinek's novels to be translated into English. [1]

Writing has changed my life. Not just the career it's created but the way I feel when I write. If you have something you love to do I hope you get the opportunity to do it. As a general model of what should happen in schools, this book has it all. Drawing on the classical triumvirate of grammar (knowledge), dialectic (questioning and debate) and rhetoric (expression), Robinson offers a model of education he wishes to see for his daughter and that seeks to draw on the past to anticipate an uncertain future. Embedded Formative Assessment by Dylan Wiliam Meet Elizabeth, who has had a rough, traumatic life (you sympathize with her). She was left alone to protect and care for her little sister Jules at a young age, with an abusive father in jail most of the time and a mother in a mental hospital. Every time I thought I knew where this book was heading it took a completely different turn to what I thought. The end was very twisty which I loved and that very final secret revealed right at the end blew me away. I’d have never worked that one out in a million years.
