At 2:09 there is heart stopping moment when Miles Morales is punched, then followed by some creepy surround audio when he faces The Prowler.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse continues the story of Miles Morales, this time told by Spider-Gwen, and employs characters, storytelling, picture and sound in perfect union to produce a film that is quite unmissable. This will not make much sense if you've not seen that first film, so go and do it now if you haven't. Christopher Miller and Phil Lord's Spider-Verse series is the true heir to the MCU Infinity Saga throne. Across the Spider-verse ups the ante and the story telling to ecstatic levels, with everything coming together to produce a perfect whole. Some folks felt cheated by the way this film ends, but I’ve enjoyed this kind of filmic storytelling ever since I saw The Empire Strikes Back at the tender age of ten. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld), Brooklyn's full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence.On the Blu-ray, Sony includes a number of general featurettes, some on the designs, comics, cast, and music. Admittedly, Miles Morales was introduced into the comics around the time I stopped avidly reading the Big Two, so I’m only vaguely familiar with his character; and if anything…. The first part of a two-part story, Across the Spider-Verse reintroduces us to an older, wiser, but lonelier Miles Morales, who pines for his old friend Spider-Gwen. Good animation film and a good follow on from the first however it is over long at 2 hours and 20 minutes and it is the first part of something, guess we will have to wait another four years to find out.
The mixture of styles, the way they envelop a scene’s emotion, and even define a character’s world or personality is breathtaking.
