The lower end comes across a lot better - the beginning of B3 and bass/kicks of B5 for instance sound great. It is how I imagine an original 1st pressing from 2000 would sound in Mint condition (unfortunately, my copy is 2nd hand and as such hasn't been treated with the care and attention that I treat my records! The album was dedicated to drummer Will Champion's mother, Sara Champion, who died of cancer in May 2000, two months before the release of Parachutes.

A routinely great artist, much of Sufjan's universal appeal comes from his skills as a gifted narrator, pairing personal musings on love and devotion with commentary on American culture, whilst welding folk and electronica, the ambient and existential. Tape hiss is particularly annoying on track A3 compared to the CD and the Capitol Vault 2008 pressing so it is probably analogue at least on this track. Recently missed out on a OG copy of this LP on a popular auction site so I thought I`d give this reissue a chance as I want the LP on vinyl.

It's quiet, but the pressing leaves the mid-range and highs almost "shrill" for lack of a better word. He was introduced to Coldplay by his manager Pete Byrne (who gave him a copy of the band's Fierce Panda-distributed debut single in 1999).The Japanese version contains all main tracks, plus "Careful Where You Stand" and "For You", which were originally released as the B-sides of "Shiver", the hidden song is on the pre-gap of track 11. Parachutes was recognised to have an alternative rock, [8] indie rock [9] and post-Britpop, [10] with some stylistic comparisons being made to contemporaries such as Radiohead and Travis. With their debut major label single alone, the emotion-fortified "Shiver", Coldplay prove they can shift between elated and crushed in a breath, as singer Chris Martin pours out music's oldest chestnut (unconditional yet unrequited love) with the shakiest of voices and a backdrop of epic guitars. The 180g reissue has the same -1-1/-1-1 matrix, so it's pretty hard to tell a 1st press from a reissue without weighing it.
