About this deal

We love that the characters in the book are a diverse mix of girls, each with their own personality and each following their own interests on each page.

It has 22 pages with a rhyming sentence on each one, and provides a fantastic opportunity to learn new vocabulary. Somebody Swallowed Stanley is a gorgeously illustrated book with a critical message—highly recommended. We think this book is useful for teaching children all about earthworms, how important they are for our gardens and how to encourage worms to come to the surface. First, an enormous whale scoops him up in her cave-like mouth, then the sharp yellow beak of a seagull pecks and snaps at him, until finally, he is eaten by a turtle with paddle-like flippers and a wrinkly head.

I recently read this to a 5-year-old and was amazed by how helpful a book could be in aiding a child in understanding climate change and the negative impacts of pollution. Lively full-page illustrations accompany the rhythmic, repetitive text, which is perfect to read aloud. We would use it to introduce questions such as how are suds and bubbles are formed, what shapes can bubbles be, why do bubbles burst and what happens if you add more detergent to your running tap?

Good and useful to read with younger children when teaching Science or the topic of materials and using plastic and the effects it has especially on animals under the sea. The mat could also be used to support your pupils’ independent writing and developing spelling skills.

We love the way Jasper uses many different gardening process (watering, digging, removing pests) before his seed has even grown.

This is an engaging story with adorable illustrations that teach children about the dangers of plastic waste. Ocean Animals confuse Stanley for jellyfish and find themselves coughing and choking while trying to swallow him.We think it is great for explaining where rain comes from, where rainwater goes to, how rainbows form and how we can observe and identify different types of clouds. Amazing tells the story of a little boy and his pet dragon, Zibbo, and the many activities they enjoy doing together.

It just so happened, my daughter spotted a plastic bag just like Stanley floating in the ocean during our boat ride a few months ago. Explore and represent patterns within numbers up to 10, including evens and odds, double facts and how quantities can be distributed equally. Most jellyfish have dangly-gangly tentacles, but Stanley has two handles…Other jellyfish have a magical glow, but Stanley has stripes… Because Stanley (spoiler alert) is a plastic bag!Eventually, Stanley is rescued from the ocean and put to better use where he can no longer be a danger to unwary sea creatures—a happy ending for everyone. It is important that we have conversations with our kids about environmental issues and how they can help make the world a better place.
