Wireless Uplink functionality enables wireless connectivity between APs for extended range. One wired UniFi AP uplink supports up to four wireless downlinks on a single operating band, allowing wireless adoption of devices in their default state and real-time changes to network topology. For devices that support Plug & Play Mesh, this functionality is extended to allow multi-hop wireless uplink – so wirelessly uplinked APs can support uplink to other wirelessly uplinked APs. Guest Portal/Hotspot support The quoted wireless specification is given as the maximum radio performance. Achievable range and throughput will vary depending on the regional regulations where the radio is deployed. The Ubiquiti UniFi AC Mesh Wi-Fi Access Point is a simultaneous dual-band, 2x2 MIMO meshing access point designed specifically for large indoor and outdoor deployments. Capable of speeds up to 1200Mbps and supporting up to 100 clients per AP, the UAP-AC-M is perfect for demanding environments such as public parks, shopping centres or for providing whole campus Wi-Fi. The UAP-AC-M is compatible with 802.3af PoE Alternative A and 24V passive PoE. You can power it with the included Gigabit PoE adapter or an 802.3af Alternative A compatible switch, such as the UniFi PoE Switch or EdgePoint EP-R6. UniFi can also be self-hosted on a Windows/macOS/Linux machine, but this is only recommended for users proficient with network administration, because it requires constant and precise attention. You’ll need to manually configure your network for sufficient communication between UniFi Network and all of your networking devices. Success hinges on your ability to continuously navigate various third-party software, firewalls and other networking devices. The UAP-AC-M-PRO features simultaneous dual-band coverage via the 802.11ac enabled 3x3 MIMO connection, with speeds of up to 1300 Mbps on the 5GHz band and up to 450 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. Standalone Mode should only be used when configuring a small quantity of APs because they do not support seamless roaming. Instead, you will need to manually connect to each AP as you move out of range. Also, APs must have a wired connection to your network; wireless meshing is not possible.
