About this deal

It probably all depends on the amount of water/broth you use. I’ve seen some pretty watery pea soups from a can that are that low (or lower) in calories. Don’t take the lid off of this slow cooker. If you do, it will release a lot of the heat and it will take longer to cook. Give the curry a good stir. If the consistency is still thin, turn off the slow cooker, and let the curry sit for a few minutes. Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Hamilton Beach. I was provided with a slow cooker in exchange for my honest review. As always, all opinions are my own. No liquid escapes from a slow cooker, so when adapting a recipe not specifically written for a slow cooker, reduce any added liquid by a third. In a large slow cooker add coconut milk, broth (or water) peanut butter, soy sauce, garlic and freshly grated ginger. Whisk to combine, then stir in spices: curry powder, turmeric, cayenne, pepper and salt. Yummy!!! Super simple… switched to high later on to hurry the potatoes along but overall fantastic!! Size: Slow cookers must be filled at least halfway to cook effectively. Most slow-cooker recipes are developed for use with a five- or six-quart unit. If you consistently cook for a crowd, there are bigger slow cookers, too. This is my favorite slow cooker recipe as of now. Dinner was delicious! I went a little heavy on the fresh ginger, maybe adding an extra teaspoon, added chopped carrots and peas, but I followed the recipe besides that. Thank you so much again. It refers to a type of split pulse that doesn’t require pre-soaking, and also the dish made by simmering the peas, beans or lentils with water and spices. This is typically an Indian dish but is also popular in other countries. Leftovers will keep well in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 4 days and can be reheated on the stovetop. What do you serve it with? Wash your rice thoroughly to remove excess starch. Place your pre-portioned rice into a fine mesh sieve and run a stream of cool water over the top, moving the sieve slowly to make sure the water touches every last grain. Continue rinsing your rice until the water runs clean, then shake the sieve a few times to get rid of excess water. [1] X Research source

Change Up the Veges! This recipe is easily customizable to use whatever you have on hand. Here are some ideas:

Vegetables- Use 6-8 cups of chopped fresh (or frozen) vegetables. Keep in mind that the cook times for vegetables can be different so chop vegetables such as potatoes or carrots smaller than vegetables such as bell peppers. The day that I photographed it, I used 2 cups each carrots, broccoli, peppers and white onion.
