The comic was reposted a number of times, inspiring new variations, including multiple English versions of the meme, such as a November 2015 post to Imgur [5] and a January 2016 post to Tumblr [6] (shown below, left and right respectively). The meme spread across social media over the next five years, resulting in many variations. On the same day, @mustangart posted a meme showing the Hindenberg's crash about how triggered the Combat Wheelchair makes some D&D players, gaining over 5,600 likes in three days (shown below).

On November 2nd, 2019, Redditor u/TheGreaterGonzales posted a number of restored versions of the image to /r/MemeRestoration, [2] garnering over 560 upvotes in roughly a year (see Templates).
The Combat Wheelchair has received significant criticism online since its first release from certain groups. On January 20th, 2021, Tumblr [7] user disabledprincesses posted a version of the meme about Karens, garnering over 520 notes in four months (shown below, left). On April 16th, Redditor u/NerdBorne posted a photoshopped version of the meme to /r/shitpostcrusaders [8] referencing JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, garnering over 1,400 upvotes in three weeks (shown below, right).Yes! On October 13th, 2020, Facebook [9] user Amador Patriot posted a new image inspired by the meme showing Vice President Kamala Harris pushing President Joe Biden off a cliff (shown below). It is unclear if this user created the image, but is the earliest known user to upload it. The image has been reposted a number of times on social media, receiving notable attention on Facebook. [10]
The Combat Wheelchair gained significant support following its first release in July 2020. On August 4th, Dice Breaker [5] published a piece on the Combat Chair, interviewing Thompson. Criticism The chair has been regularly discussed on the board since with over 850 instances of the term appearing in a 4plebs [10] search since August 2020.
