The terrain piece, however, does not quite save itself. Whilst the Warbands are at times a pain to fit together, they do at least fit together. As we said, we had some big issues getting some of the crucial parts of our Mawpit to fit together that ultimately left it with some horrendous gaps around the model. This is a ton of content, and when they say "everything you need to start playing" they really mean it. With the contents of this box, you have a full regimen of fighters and all the tools necessary to jump into the game immediately. The battle wages against the Horns of Hashut and the Rotmire Creed in Warcry Heart of Ghur Hunter and Hunted is the new Warcry box set on the way, containing terrain and minis that was revealed at the NOVA Open GW preview! An impressive and variable range of models, with all manner of interchangeable heads, weapons, and other pieces of equipment, you’ll be able to get your Wildercorps looking exactly how you want them to. The inclusion of the hounds is nice, too – though I’m not sure about the cropped ears on a couple of the models.

Overall, much of what’s been presented in this box is simply fantastic. The system has not been tinkered with too much, retaining the core spirit of what made Warcry special. Yet it’s been noticeably improved in an elegant and refined fashion. Play is similarly dynamic, as each round players roll fistfuls of dice and separate their results into pools of single, double, and triple values. While the participant with the largest amount of singles gains initiative for the round, the doubles and triples are spent for faction-specific abilities. This provides a large degree of asymmetry in addition to the fighter profiles, allowing for unexpected combat boosts or aggressive maneuvers. I greatly prefer the system to Kill Team’s, which require a lot more study. In Warcry you simply have a small chart that’s easy to reference and internalize. You will need the Warcry Core Rule Book to use the rules content included in this box, and the models (as is the case with all Warcry big box releases) come unpainted and unassembled, so you'll need the proper tools to put them together. Heart of Ghur also beefs up campaign play. The system now more closely mimics the Path to Glory campaign system in Age of Sigmar. Warband story objectives are integrated into existing scenarios as an additional consideration, allowing players to progress on their individual narrative path and attain quest points. Eventually the quest is completed, offering rewards such enhanced fighters or a powerful artifact to wield. The beauty here is that this is an additional layer to the game that sits atop the simple skirmish structure and provides a more rich and satisfying experience. It’s really disappointing. The Mawpit looks like a really impressive bit of scenery, and given the relatively few number of components it’s made from, it looks like it’s going to be an easy build. Curseling, Eye of Tzeentch Hunter and Hunted also comes with a brand new piece of terrain – a troublingly toothsome Mawpit, complete with a bone pulpit built over its fanged rim by worshipful ogors. These peristaltic potholes must constantly eat or else return to stone and dirt, and so consume anything that ventures near them, screeching and howling the moment they finish their meal. There are expansive rules for commanding Knight Households and fielding entire armies of Knights, including options to march beneath the resplendent heraldic banners of the Household. Rules are also included to allow players to field a Household drawn from six of the loyal Knight Households of Molech.
