About this deal

To be honest, I am quite mixed on this album. I must admit although it is dissapointing, it is not by any means awful and his worst. One unusual thing that happened at the show was a lady called Aimee held a sign up asking Rod to let her sing with him on Stay With Me. So someone from Rods crew got her up on stage and she got to do her duet..more on this show next week!

The magnificent catarrh has a new album, Smiler, and it contains what by now you would expect: several energetic new examples of the Stewart/Wood world view, a couple of boozy renditions of classic R&B standards, a sentimental soundalike of Rod’s smasheroo “Maggie May,” at least two ho-hum instrumental interludes lasting an average of less than a minute, plus at least one good old Dylan song and maybe a stray ballad or two. This must be Rod’s conception of what a well-rounded pop album should be. Ex band member Stevie Salas who said ‘Where would I be in this world today if Rod Stewart didn’t take a chance giving a job to a kid barely in his early 20s who had ZERO experience. Man I love him so and owe him deep. It was so great to see him last night and have a few laughs ( in the photo with my brother Chris Osceola). Also great to see Jimmy Roberts, David Palmer, the RS Band and even one of my techs from the 93 Duran Duran tour’. No one sent anything in this week so I will give you one of my pastel portraits..with a wee bit of a scottish theme.. A signed by Rod pastel On Wednesday The band played the show in Sydney and Rod enjoyed a day out with his son Alastair at The Royal Botanic Garden in Sydney and Penny shared a snap of herself cuddling up to an adorable koala while visiting The Sydney Zoo at Eastern CreekSir Rod Stewart is still very much a part of the current music scene, having performed at Her Majesty the Queen’s Royal Jubilee in 2022, and released new music as recently as 2021.

A5 sized and printed in full colour, SMILER magazine contains exclusive interviews, exclusive photographs and special exclusive features including contributions from Rod, Penny and various people connected to Rod such as band members, friends and of course fans!Rod sang a stunning version of Tom Traubert’s Blues (Waltzing Matilda) in the set, the first time Rod has sang it live since The 2015 Hyde Park set. Photo Andrew Treadwell Rehearsals have been going really well thank you! I had been rehearsing by myself whenever and wherever I could for about 2 months so to see it come to life with the band made me even more excited! Smiler, very famously, contains more of the same. For me that would not be the problem if the contents were (and had always been) good. But I am not sure about it. I wasn't very excited about Every Picture Tells a Story or the Faces albums, and the same can be said about Smiler as well. "Farewell", "Let Me Be Your Car" and "Mine for Me" are very nice, the two brief instrumentals are all right of course, but I can definitely live without the rest. Absolutely not! Hahaha I think I will definitely leave the expert that is Kevin to play the keyboard. I think I have worn out my royal welcome. I think I will leave it to someone else. I will be in Las Vegas, but my wife will be on duty as a policewoman though.”said Rod
