About this deal

The ’68 Comeback Special, as it became known, aired on 3 December 1968 and helped rejuvenate Presley’s recording career.

In 1977, the program was aired after Presley's death as a special titled Memories of Elvis, hosted by Ann-Margret. Irrespective of the source, all of our collectables meet our strict grading and are 100% guaranteed. To reflect the new intended direction of Presley's career, Finkel recruited director Steve Binder, who had directed the concert film T. These laid-back live performances were recorded in the round before a small audience and featured a powerful ensemble, including guitarist Scotty Moore and drummer D.Binder and Howe developed the concept of the informal section of the show after seeing Presley interacting with his entourage while playing music during breaks. If you don’t see a personalisation section, you can always message the seller with your request too.

In October 1967, Parker approached Tom Sarnoff, NBC West Coast vice president, to propose a Christmas television special. Forty-two percent of the total television audience viewed it, making it the most-watched show of the season. With virtually no filler, one can't help but wonder why only 10-12 minutes from nearly two-hours of stellar material wound up in Binder's original cut of the television special. Sony will celebrate Elvis Presley‘s ’68 Comeback Special will a seven-disc super deluxe edition box set, due to be issued at the end of November.Though very minor detriments remain, they are not enough to mar one of the finest video refurbishings of '60s-era television material to surface to date, courtesy of producer-editor Ray Miller; hats off to him and his staff for a job well done. There are also clips of him splitting his pants; looking like a complete dork as he miss-times a simple walk down a few steps, seeming a little geeky, and human - for me, this is where this Deluxe Edition really hits the mark. Both releases flopped, and by 1964 Parker decided to limit all recordings exclusively to film soundtracks. Disappointed at only getting stingy, 'a cut here and there' compilation album treatment of the unreleased goods from RCA, adamant fans turned to enterprising bootleg album/video specialists to fill the void. This new release is purely fictional and presents Elvis Presley's Comeback Special in a totally different way; Elvis is hosting his own TV Special and tells his side of the story.
