About this deal

On the bright side I'm looking forward to swapping some of the old dials into the new cases and bezels. The new "pepsi" bezel might look really good on the old blue dial.

While it’s not built quite as well as the previously mentioned Orient Kamasu, or Seiko SKX,, it still has an automatic movement and a 200-meter water resistance rating, and is only marginally more expensive than the Casio MDV106. RF’s recent review of the Waldan Watch Heritage Professional highlighted a defect bedeviling a lot of low-end quartz watches these days: the second hand missed the indices. As the pics above indicate, the Casio Duro’s bezel lines-up perfectly and the second-hand alignment is amazingly consistent in all three of my examples. While it doesn’t have any fancy features, nor an automatic movement, it has 200 meters of water resistance, making it more than capable of swimming or diving, without having to worry about water damage. Yeah… some Casiophiles have expressed wishes for a slightly smaller version of the Duro. So far, no joy. This is honestly one of my favorite combinations for just about any dive watch that I can get away with wearing orange on.Similar to the MDV106, they also have 200m water resistance. They also have the added bonus of being ISO Certified, which means they pass a certain set of requirements to be considered a professional dive watch. While I’ve never actually been diving with mine, just knowing how tough and robust my SKX009 is sure gives me a feeling of confidence (and watch snobbery) when on my wrist. You’ll be hard-pressed to find just about any other dive watch with 200 meters of water resistance at this price. I would get slaughtered in the comments if I didn’t mention one of Citizen’s best affordable dive watches, the Citizen Promaster. If you want to keep it REALLY affordable, the Invicta Pro Diver is simply one of the cheapest automatic dive watches you can get.

A red-painted arrow second-hand adds a pop of color to an otherwise monochromatic watch and adds some visual interest. It also makes pairing this watch with a red strap, or with red accents, even more appealing. Included Rubber Strap Overall the dial is perfect and simple enough to tell the time easily, while still being interesting enough to look at for even a collector like myself who has a half-dozen other dive watches in his collection. HandsIt is a great pleasure to see the continuation of watch development in the model range of simple but excellent products under the MDV name. The MDV-107 series can hardly be called a new product because it is, in fact, a copy of the famous Duro Marlin MDV-106, but with minimal differences. No, the Casio MDV106 is not ISO certified. With that said, its 200-meter water-resistance rating will make it more than suitable for all but professional divers. How do I Adjust my Casio MDV106? Synthetic resin is the ideal material for wrist straps thanks to its extremely durable and flexible properties. Don’t get the lume comments in this review. I wear my Duro to bed, hit the hay at 10:00, can easily see the time in a dark bedroom. Wake up at various points in the night, still perfectly readable to tell time. What do you want out of lume? Reply It also makes it extremely easy to find your watch, should it fall off in the water when swimming, for whatever reason. Just be careful that a fish doesn’t mistake it for food.
