We need a society, we also need solitude in the same way that we need summer and winter, night and day, and exercise and rest. May your summer be a symphony of laughter, friendship, and the pure bliss of being surrounded by loved ones. I hope you are going to have a great time this summer. Just be careful because the heat is quite unbearable. Here’s to sun-kissed skin, sandy toes, and the feeling of pure bliss that comes with embracing the magic of summer. If you want to talk about holidays in the plural(ie holidays over the years) you can use the verb “to have” Summer simply means good sunshine and happy times! It only means heading to the beach, visiting Disneyland and of course, having fun! May you have a happy summer! May your summer be filled with flip-flops, beach towels, and the soothing sound of waves crashing on the shore. I think the biggest take-away for me was that the some of the anxieties of growing older that I felt were specific to my life—comparing my life now to my parents lives’ then and the privilege afforded to me of getting to stress about navigating a filmmaking career while their main priority at this age was survival in an unknown land, among other things—are not particular to me. It was very reassuring to talk about it with friends I grew up with, those who knew me then and know me now, and hear that it’s a shared feeling between us. And now that the film is out in the world, it’s been incredibly comforting to see that it’s a feeling a lot of people seem to resonate with, whether or not they’re children of immigrants or share any overlap of identity with us.
