And if anyone is going to pull it off, I have full faith that the BBC is more than capable. with these materials for Universal Studios. Army of Darkness, with its demented madcap vision, marked Raimi’s true entrance into Hollywood-sized filmmaking, and you can trace a straight line from this, the final installment of a series that began as an indie feature funded by dentists with spare investment cash, to the director’s eventual helming of the Spider-Man franchise. Image/SoundWhile it’s true that the Evil Dead series became more and more campy over time, it felt like an organic transition. Most horror franchises tend to get more laughable as they go on, whether they’re intended to or not. Evil Dead II exists solely because of the mild bit of controversy that surrounded the original film, particularly in the UK where Sam Raimi was taken to task for it, even being brought in to testify in court for it (nothing ever came of it). Score has plenty of heft to it and mixes in well without distortion issues. There are also some nice uses of LFE, which pop up from time to time, particularly during the end battle. Real scenarios often make for the best horror media. How much we care about the characters determines the failure or success of any piece of media. Nightsleeper will have run into trouble if they focus too much on the action. Leather is fully aware of this, stating “We knew we were making a big action thriller, but you still need it to have heart, humor and warmth. I can’t write any other way,”
