After devoting my entire October to-read list to supernatural thrillers for spooky season, I was ready to get back to my psychological suspense roots this month—and ideally, I wanted something that was a little bit more lighthearted and “popcorn-y” for a change of pace.

Slow-burning yet simmering with tension and suspense, ALL THE DANGEROUS THINGS is hypnotic, immersive, and emotionally-impactful—the kind of mystery you’ll sink into, not coming up for air until you’ve turned the final page. I actually skimmed the last little bit because it wasn't one that kept me all that interested and the killer was very easy to figure out. BLACK WIDOW is a maze of deceit—it demands that the reader pay close attention as Brookmyre unravels the twisted web at its core.

There are no cuffs on my wrists but I can still feel the cold steel like I can still feel the sting of humiliation that comes with wearing them. I think of how it once stung, but my skin has grown thicker over time, and I have worse things to endure now than mere words. It comes from knowing what the big secret is – you kind of reverse engineer the logic, like telling a joke.

The Black Widow: Novels book series by Margaret Stohl includes books Black Widow: Forever Red and Black Widow: Red Vengeance. Often drawn to her, often repelled its such an interesting walk through the type of life that is more familiar in fiction. If she had her way she'd wear her favorite curve-hugging leopard print dress to Scott's funeral; he loved her in that dress! Mixed feelings about the narration, having the London /Essex accent and occasional chuckle when a memory was read was touching, but sadly I did find that there were a number of duplicates sentences as well the use of “darling” repeatedly and a number of incorrect pauses were quite irritating at times and sadly deflected from the book- which was a shame.
