About this deal

I know how hooked kids get on the Horrid Henry books and I love their enthusiasm!' she says. 'But even Horrid Henry fans need to OCCASIONALLY read something else, and I know they would also adore Steven Butler's The Nothing To See Here Hotel, about a secret holiday resort for magical creatures. 'Henry fans will love the riotous humour, fantastic characters, and spiralling madness as the hotel copes with the arrival of the guest from hell, a goblin prince with a dark secret. Horrid Henry is a mischievous troublemaker who has a few anger management issues and is a little bit over-exhilarant, with features of arrogance too. He is a bad-tempered, hot headed kid with a smart mouth. He's also extremely skeptical of authority, or just anything that kids stereotypically hate, such as school, but he's also a trendy kid who's always in on the latest trends. Due to his mischievous behaviour, he's disliked by most of his teachers. Henry is known to be horrid, but by Series 2, he had become nicer, and by series 3, he has become quite popular. According to Henry, they have told him millions of times that he can never have another birthday party, but then agree to give him one more chance each year.

Francesca Simon is an American author who lives in North London with her family. Now, she’s one of the UK’s most popular children’s authors and has written over fifty books for kids of every age. In 2019, she was the third most borrowed author from libraries and the fifth most borrowed overall. She’s been a judge for literary prizes, been involved in many literacy charities, and was awarded a Gold Blue Peter badge. Horrid Henry's Holiday" and "Horrid Henry and Moody Margaret" have been reprinted individually as part of the Early Readers series, [4] [5] aimed at younger children, with colour illustrations in 2009 and 2010 respectively.

Maar als zijn vervelende neef, opschepperige Steven, Hendrik bang maakt als hij komt logeren, zet hij het hem betaald, en terecht! You might find other books/series like the following might be good too (in case you haven't stumbled across them already): I remember liking this book as a kid, so I thought I’d read it again (this time in English) and ahh it was so nostalgic. This was truly a harrowing tale of nigh-biblical proportions. Simon honestly grapples with the idea of redemption and to what extent a person is able to forgive. With echoes to genesis, her modern interpretation of the bible tale is far more fitting for a contemporary audience of today, not to mention the metaphor of the feminine God found in the Mother character of the two children. She was all loving, yet all powerful and fair.

Horrid Henry makes jump to hit big screen". BBC News. London. 23 June 2010 . Retrieved 11 October 2010. Henry is likely secretly very sensitive as his brother tends to get lots more affection than him, such as how Mum calls Peter honey bun, or bunny kins. This is probably what led Henry to dislike Peter so much, as he took all his parents attention from him. He is in Miss Battle-Axe's class in both the book and TV series, even though he is a few years younger in the books, being about 7-8 years of age. Flat Stanley, by Jeff Brown (about a boy who gets flattened and the adventures he has because of it) Henry's next door neighbour and arch-enemy. Margaret often annoys Henry, while Henry torments Margaret by performing horrid deeds. They might deal with things, but they are still enemies. Despite the conflicts between Henry and Margaret, they seem to temporarily strike up as alliances, like in " Horrid Henry's Horrid Revenge", and on many occasions, they have been married or engaged in Henry's dreams. Try another 'bad boy' - Just William by Richmal Crompton. After all, if that goes down well, there are 39 books in the series! This book is basically about this kid Henry who does bad things, his brother (perfect peter) who is “perfect” and a few more characters. Throughout the whole course of the series, Henry's best friend is Rude Ralph, which Henry has a similar personality. Ralph is the richest kid in school and lives the life of luxury that Henry dreams of having, is a member of the Purple Hand Gang and is often involved with Henry at schemes and plots. His other friends include Aerobic Al, Beefy Bert, Brainy Brian, Anxious Andrew, Weepy William and Greedy Graham.

All this is juxtaposed with Perfect Peter, the 'White-Hat' of our story. he cares for his surroundings, he does not squander his home's supply of vegetables and is rewarded by their mother with cake, But no. He does not want recognition for his actions, Peter does not desire cake. He merely wants to do good. While I don’t fully understand the point of this book, if there is one (it doesn’t teach the reader that being bad is bad, for example), I enjoyed it very much, and I did sense some important themes but I don’t think they were intended (like, if you look at the third story as a metaphor and stuff like that) Edit: Also, the adults’ behavior in the book is questionable at times🤔 but ig things were different in the 90’s Amelia Bedelia, by Peggy Parish (about a maid and the troubles she has because of her misunderstanding the people around her-rather along the lines of Horrid Henry in some ways),Ramona Quimby, by Beverly Cleary (about a girl who gets into troubles because of various reasons- also like Horrid Henry in many ways) Ramona is quite popular with girls in the States (where I'm from); she may be little advanced for the 5 year old, but they're used as early readers/sight readers for kids so they could be a good book to grow into. Horrid Henry notably enjoys watching television, and his favourite shows include Mutant Max, Rapper Zapper and Terminator Gladiator. Henry and Peter often argue over who watches the television because Peter prefers to watch programs that Henry finds too babyish and boring. Horrid Henry is a children's book series by Francesca Simon and illustrated by Tony Ross. It has been adapted for television, film [1] and theatre. [2] Horrid Henry is set in the United Kingdom in 1994.

The book 'Horrid Henry' is a collection of four short stories which focus on the daily events of the classic anti-hero protagonist, Horrid Henry. A man who's very identity is described even before his name is given to us. He is not the only character to be named with an overly-simplified, alliterated characteristic; brothers, arch-nemeses and friends alike are all named like this: Perfect Peter, Moody Margaret, Rude Ralph etc. Truly, from names alone we understand that simplified identity will be the core difficulty our protagonist will have to face in his oncoming misadventures. The Horrid Henry stories are read on audiobook by the actress Miranda Richardson and published by Orion Audio.
