I would love to know what happened during those eleven days and why. This well-written and engaging story only added to the intrigue of one of world’s most famous and well-loved authors. Agatha's car is found abandoned; her possessions left inside the vehicle. Where is she? Does Archie know? Is Nan involved? Is it possible Agatha has been kidnapped?British writer Juliette Towhidi is writing the adaptation. It’s also a positive sign that there is a writer attached. As the story begins we meet Colonel Archibald (Archie) Christie who is embroiled in an affair with Miss Nan O’Dea. I did love the main plot exploring the reasons that could have developed in the life of my favorite author but it was the murder mystery woven thru it that held my attention thoroughly. Yes, it was interesting to see the plot devices used by Christie like a hotel, a set of guests, a man dying in the middle of having dinner, it was glorious to return to that Christie set up. This story thou, I believe would have worked equally well without the need for mixing up the real events of Agatha Christie’s disappearance. I have read many books where facts are blended with fiction but I felt this would have been better as out an out fiction without the unnecessary need for the sensational subject matter. Another point that I was irked with was how Nan imagines the scenes that would have played out between Agatha and various other characters. Not sure why the author chose to do that, but it was irritating as if they are not happening in the real but are whimsical and imaginary thoughts of Nan’s mind or probably these words say it all, I’d also warn that the book proceeds along at a fairly unhurried pace in the first half, so I’d recommend setting your expectations accordingly. Read it or Skip it? Where to begin? I appreciated this book, but it irritated me as a reader and writer. I likened it to having a strip of Ductape in your hair and each time the following things happened, ripping it off a bit at a time. What this seems to be about is Agatha Christie, who famously went missing for 11 days. She was only a moderately successful author at the time, but apparently lots of English police officers were charged with looking for her. She disappeared after her husband, Archie, told her he was leaving her for another woman. We’re told all this from the perspective of the other woman, who obviously can only guess and imagine things she wasn’t present to witness herself or hear from the people who actually lived the experiences—and people lie all the time from omission or the way things get lost in translation—I don’t mean spoken language necessarily, but the way we can misinterpret body language or situations.

As mentioned above, I went into this unprepared for how completely fictionalized the main story in it was, so that would be a big caveat for anyone interested in the events of Agatha Christie’s disappearance. In reading it, it ended up being a fairly different book than the one I’d imagined it to be. This is historical fiction with mystery elements. In December 1926 Archie tells Agatha he wants a divorce, as he's determined to marry Nan. Upper class British women like Agatha are expected to keep a stiff upper lip, but Agatha is devastated. The next day Agatha vanishes, leaving the Christie's school age daughter Teddy in the care of her nanny. In Part III, Chilton and Agatha investigate the Marston murders and learn that Mrs. Marston was once a nun and Mr. Marston was a priest. They recently renounced their vows and married. Chilton and Agatha piece together that Mrs. Marson is Sister Mary Clare, Mr. Marston is Father Joseph and that Nan is likely the one that killed them.
