Only heat using a microwave. No other method may be used & only heat one heatpad in a microwave at a time. We advise using the heatpad with CAUTION when working with unattended anaesthetized animals, just like with any other heat source product. If using a heat-sourced product with recovering and immobile animals, they should be closely watched to make sure they can move freely and away from the heat as needed. This is typical procedure for any heat source that is utilised, not only our heatpad. If I've got Camowen's weight on arrival correct, then he's gained ~100g in 3 1/2 weeks, but it was said originally that maybe they were being kept slightly too cold and then a lot of energy was going on keeping them warm. He's not overweight, I swear, and I don't believe he was underfed at all (I'm really not trying to accuse their previous owners of anything because I really don't believe that's fair at all, they've arrived in good health and the only reason I want the thing abou them being kept maybe too cold before, is because it was brought up by them first. If you’re looking for a safe and effective way to keep your pets warm, it’s best to AVOID using CONVENTIONAL HOT WATER BOTTLES. This is because they are not bite-resistant and can cause hypothermia in animals when used cold. Instead, you can consider using a SnuggleSafe® heatpad. The SnuggleSafe heatpad contains Thermapol™ which is non-toxic. When the product is heated correctly and in accordance with these instructions, Thermapol remains predominantly in a solid state (approx 65°C/149°F). If the product is overheated, Thermapol will start to liquefy and if the product is seriously overheated its plastic casing will eventually melt-down, allowing the Thermapol to leak out. "Serious overheating" is 300-400% beyond the correct heating time (for example, in a 900-1,000w microwave where the correct heating time is 5 minutes, melt-down and leakage could occur after 20 minutes heating). Over heating will not cause the product to "explode", so Thermapol will leak from its casing without impact. Okay, so. I'm really looking for advice tonight for further down the line.
