About this deal

The Orient Mako has been something of an insider tip among watch enthusiasts for several years. With prices often below 200 USD, it offers world-class quality at remarkably affordable prices. Even the most popular entry-level Seiko watches can struggle to compete. Despite its low price tag, the Orient Mako is a robust diving watch that can stand up to the challenges and stressors of everyday life. It even offers practical functions like a day-datedisplay and unidirectional rotatable diving bezel. Thanks to its 60-minute scale, you can use the bezel to measure periods of time, such as dive durations or when cooking time-sensitive recipes. Ah, my beloved Orient Kamasu (full review). Featuring more unique rectangular hour markers and vibrant sunburst dials that set it apart from other dive watches on the market, the Orient Kamasu is as solid as one can get for an entry-level automatic diver. There are obvious pros and cons with the Orient Mako II FAA00202D9, however this piece has something that many watches try for but can’t achieve. The congruence of all its disparate elements, good and bad, result in a wearing experience that’s greater than the sum of its parts. It’s like taking the recipe for a delicious dish – you isolate the ingredients and eat them on their own and it’s most likely going to be weird (you ever eaten raw cumin before?). Seiko, on the other hand, has experimented and created timepieces as TECHNOLOGY EVOLVED. Features such as solar-powered movement and atomic precision make Seiko watches more attractive and valuable. #2 – More Movement Options From Seiko

So how does the new Mako 2 fares up against the original Mako? I’ve summarized the details in below table:Although not the top-selling models in the watch industry, field watches are durable and affordable options.

This is also one of the models from the Orient Star collection with a hand-winding mechanism, meaning arm movements can generate the power for the watch. Both brands create high-quality options for different types of watch categories. However, there are areas in which one brand performs better than the other. The Orient Mako II with a sapphire crystal is more scratch-resistant than the one with a mineral crystal. However, the one with a sapphire crystal is typically more expensive. Is the Orient Mako II made in Japan? Since then, the growth and presence of Orient watches have grown exponentially. It has grown to be one of the TRUSTED BRANDS in the watch industry. The Breakthrough of Seiko It is also highly precise, with a rate of -15 to +25 seconds per day. This means that the watch will keep time within this range and is generally considered to be accurate for a mechanical watch in this price range. But some people are not too happy with it due to many issues such as outdated movement, extra pusher for date change (which add one more critical area for water ingress), and the less than satisfactory mineral crystal.

On the other hand, SNK805 is a smaller field watch, with its case diameter measuring only 37mm – ideal for smaller wrists. That sound of “grains of sand poured down the tube” is the normal sound any automatic movement with hand-winding capabilities will make if it has the hand winding feature capability. It is a shame the shop/owner did not tell you that. I have watches from Longines, TAG Heuer, Rolex, Bulova, Omega, Mido, some old Seiko, and many other brands that do the same sound when wound. This sound means the ratchet and the mainspring are in excellent conditions, and in no way the movement is defective. If you do not have this sound it is either not-a-hand-windable automatic watch, or there is some parts missing/broken. After all, this feature was re-incorporated just for the people who wants to wind it by hand instead of shaking it. But think about this- Unscrewing and screwing the watch again on a frequent basis, just to wind it makes the crown gasket to wear faster compared to when you just shake the watch. So my advice is for you to use and enjoy this watch as it is and to forget those mind phantoms……… ReplyTo me, the end result looks like Orient was going for a polished look but decided to cheap out halfway. I would have just preferred that the entirety of the case was brushed. It would also help to bring out the dial by keeping the case more subtle. Seiko SKX007: Professional divers and those engaged in heavy SCUBA activities. Great piece for avid fans of Seiko since there is limited availability in the market Chronograph Watches The Orient Mako II features the Orient Caliber F6922 automatic movement, which is an in-house movement developed and produced by Orient Watch Co., Ltd. This movement is highly regarded for its accuracy and reliability, as well as for its value for money. The main dial also holds the second hand of the chronograph. This also indicates that the sub-dials contain the main second’s counter. Our Verdict: Which Is For You? I’m honestly quite surprised with the Orient Mako II bracelet quality. To match the classic sub-type case the bracelet features oyster-style links. The tops of the links are brushed while the sides are polished. The endlinks are unfortunately hollow, but they are surface treated to the same quality of the rest of the watch. Even though the endlinks are hollow it doesn’t negatively impact the overall quality of feeling for the the bracelet. However once you take the bracelet off and physically handle the endlinks, you can certainly tell it’s an area where they decided to cut cost.
