About this deal

The fact that fire in your soul beats fire on the ground. The fact that love always beats fear. And the fact that it helps to have wolves on your side." Wait!” said Marina. She stood in the doorway. There was a bruise on her cheek that had not been there before. “Can’t you see this is my daughter’s room?” I think The Wolf Wilder presents that the things that are important and meaningful in life are worth fighting for because we love them/it. We need to be loyal as well, I also thought it included courage through tough moments. I could understand all the characters emotions, for one thing, and I could picture every character in my head (the marvellous illustrations helped with that though). All in all I thought the book was a well-written, fun book for those who are 9 years old and above. I would recommend it because I really enjoyed the content and how the book made me feel, which was emotional and satisfied. The book left me wanting a little more, so I would enjoy a sequel. Despite this, I think Katherine Rundell did an excellent job.

Katherine spent her childhood in Africa and Europe before taking her degree at the University of Oxford and becoming a Fellow of All Souls College. As well as writing, she studies Renaissance literature and occasionally goes climbing on the rooftops late at night. You are not making this easy for yourself,” he said. His face was dispassionate as he gripped the side of the dining table and overturned it. Feo’s favorite mug crashed on the floor. Katherine’s father was a great storyteller narrating stories from history: the World Wars, the slave trade and the Russian revolution. The Wolf Wilder is a book built by those early stories: a fairy-tale kind of adventure informed by history. Shortlisted for the UKLA 2017 Book Award | One of our Books of the Year 2016 | September 2016 Book of the MonthAge 9-11 Set just before the Russian revolution, The Wolf Wilder tells the story of Feo a young girl living with her mother in the countryside. Their main company is a group of wolves; former pets of the aristocracy that Feo and her mother Marina prepare to return to the wild after being rejected by their owners. Following the sudden arrest of her mother and destruction of her home, Feo travels to St Petersburg to rescue her. There follows a gripping journey, fraught with danger. Wolf Wilder is an exciting adventure story with lots to think and talk about including standing up for justice, learning to working together and what it means to be brave. There is a cast of engaging characters, memorable scenes and a satisfying storyline. Beautifully written, this novel would be a delight to read aloud and share with your child. Listen to the author talk about the book. There were enjoyable parts to the planning of the revolution in a burnt out castle, the imagination of the children inventing a plausible costume was creative and fun, I liked the different characters and their Russian names and personalities, parts were quite atmospheric.

but it's one of those "imperfections," like the scars on marina's face, that makes everything around it even more beautiful. the characters are remarkable, the story original, the setting beautifully and very visually described, and there's some really fine subtext going on here that makes my heart sing. there are also some solid life lessons, but they're gracefully woven into the plot instead of jazzhanded at you. The most exciting new children's novel for a decade ... [Rundell] is a master storyteller in the Philip Pullman category -- Amanda Craig The Independent very emotional book; it makes you agree with Feo and her decisions throughout. It is very well written and makes you feel that Rakov should die.Feo wished she could explain - that the beauty of the world is itself a kind of company, and they lived in one of the most beautiful spots in the world. 'You can make the snow a kind of friend, if you know how.” Up close, they looked barely more than sixteen; but the man with the door-beating fists was old, and his eyes were the oldest thing about him. Feo’s stomach bunched up under her throat. Follow the dark and stormy girl, the soldier (aka the dancing boy), the revolutionary, and the wolves as they journey through a Russian winter to discover how to be wild and how to be themselves, which may just be the most wild journey yet. Her books have won many awards, including the Costa Children’s Book Award, the Blue Peter Book Award, and the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize. My point is that you will keep your hands off my daughter if you value their current position at the ends of your arms.’

The Wolf Wilder is Katherine Rundell's best book yet - precise, magical and wise - it's a story that will stay with you for a long time after you've read it. I absolutely loved it Sarah Crossan Feo loves her quiet, fulfilling existence, but the world outside is cruel and dangerous. The Russian army are laying waste to the surrounding areas, spreading corruption, greed and fear throughout the land. Rakov smiled, not sweetly. He took hold of Feo’s lamp, held it up to the morning light. Feo grabbed at it. It is a lovely story following the life of Feodora when her job becomes threatened by the Russians. it is a touching story that has lots of twists to the tale making it an interesting read for me.Fairy tale and history merge seamlessly” ( Publishers Weekly, starred review) in this enchanting and lyrical novel about love and resilience from the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award winner, Katherine Rundell.
