About this deal

This is a story found in one of Ito’s earlier short story collections, known as the Slug Girl Collection (named after one of the book’s stories). Every once in a blue moon, there are shows that more than just the typical copy-paste blurb that you see in the current seasonal landscape, takes you to a deeper dive of something that is truly original and stands out on its own. While the most recent case example is last year's Odd Taxi being seemingly an unkempt story about a walrus driving a taxi with the detective mystery plot of twists and turns hiding from within and awaiting its chance to demystify and satiate the audience at every corner. And this Fall, other than the return of Pop Team Epic renewed for Season 2, All four of the tales in The Liminal Zone are worth reading, but Madonna stands out as something unique thanks to its leanings on Western religious horror and guilt. What you’re getting here is the best of both worlds: Dazai’s original story with new life breathed into it through the art of Junji Ito. Junji Ito Manga Short Stories

Still I can't help but root for him. If you've undergone a spiritual malaise just like our lead, you'd understand the prodigious effort it takes to rise from all that weakness and pain. There's one point where it seems like he really had a chance. Question is - will his Beatrice be able to save her Dante?

Character-wise, all the returning cast feel true to themselves and they all have new looks which I feel fit their characters pretty well. The new main character added, Tsunagi, is by far the best addition to section nine ever. She is fun and In fact, it’s one of the few Ito short stories that would probably work just as well as prose rather than manga form. How did they get there? How long have they been there? Who carved them? How is that even possible when they were in the Earth’s crust? One aspect of Lovecraft’s style that has been less thoroughly explored, however, is the cosmic side of cosmic horror. Though one good example is The Thing That Drifted Ashore (below).

This town is affected by a curse involving the symbol of a spiral. It’s a story that plays on the impact that symbols have in both modern and ancient societies, especially in Japan. She meets a man who knows her name, and who invites her to his village. She learns about the Christian missionary Miguel, whom the villagers protected during Japan’s prosecution of Christians. The phenomenon spreads slowly, and people begin to wonder if it’s contagious. There is no rhyme or reason for why people would begin acting this way. Until, of course, there is. Ito followed up on Shiverwith Smashedand, unfortunately, none of the stories in Smashedcan be found here because they simply don’t measure up to the quality of imagination on display in Shiver.

I can't say much about the new arc - going to Africa is dangerous territory for the series to explore without coming across as cringey, but time will tell. That being the case, this series makes a convincing argument that Fujisaku was one of the main minds that made good GITS stuff. It's... that damn good. As an example of creative use, via the Torture Sommelier Shigeo Ijuin, there is actually a YouTube channel dedicating to everything about torture, its many ways of infliction and whatnot that feels like a road trip diving into YouTube's great unknown of entertainment that is seen by the few and hardcore. And adding to that, the magnificent casting of Tomokazu Sugita and Yui Ogura as the main couple, with some unknowns like Professor's VA Hidenari Ugaki adding into the mix, and you'll have one fine web comic that has unlimited amounts of creativity at whatever it desires to showcase.I think the show would benefit from a shorter episode run time instead of the standard 20-22 minutes to speed up the pacing and make each episode more engaging. Series like “Pop Team Epic” and “The Way of the House Husband” which also used minimal animation benefited greatly from this approach and their episodes felt more like fast-paced comedies rather than drawn out and full of exposition with a few gags thrown in. It is hard to watch literal static, wooden characters talk for 20 minutes about things when most of the time there's nothing to focus on. When the titular fashion model turns up to a day of filming, our protagonist is immediately frightened. Madonna, however, leans hard on the concept of catholic guilt, religious fervour, doctrine, and a the cult mentality of Western churches.

Some of the best horror and monster stories tap into this idea of uncharted, unknown parts of time and space. I’ve read this book multiple times and, as a Frankenstein obsessive, I’m happy to say that it stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Danny Boyle’s stage adaptation as the best interpretation of Shelley’s original novel. Human Bug Daigaku tells the story of a lone salaryman by the name of Hirofumi Satake. Accused of a murder that he committed of his fiancée Chie Negishi, the punishment for murder is death, and he is being sentenced just as the justice courts say so. Satake has one particular trait: being known as the "Undead Man", he has outlived all the dangers imposed on his life, no matter how high nor how wide. For that reason, the mysterious research institution, known only as "The Human Crazy University" with the unassuming Professor spokesperson in toll, develops an interest and uses him to seek answers to the mundane human life of miraculous phenomena and the thing we call karma.

Solo Eating To Overpowered

Junji Ito manga comes in three distinct forms. The first is his longform graphic novels. These are longer stories that tell extended, interconnected horror stories. This is his imagination working in remarkable ways. It also best showcases his uncanny ability to draw the human face in the most terrifyingly expressive ways. Adapting Frankenstein faithfully and originally is no small ask, but Ito answered the call with grace and poise, as well as a manic adoration for the source material. It’s no secret that Junji Ito’s writing, art, and, design style have all been heavily influenced by the mind and works of H.P. Lovecraft. Many of Ito’s tales are inspired by Japanese folklore and tradition ( Weeping Woman Way and The Spirit Flow of Aokigahara are two great examples, both found in The Liminal Zone).
