About this deal

There is actually plenty of striking detail on offer here, sometimes in areas which you likely would have never noticed it before. Dynamic range and bass activity are both robust, giving a welcome sense of scale and kick to the action scenes, but neither are on par with contemporary efforts. The fine blonde fuzz of facial hair on Linda Hamilton's face in close-up when she's doing pull-ups; the reflections in the sunglasses during the motorcycle/truck chase sequence; the intricacies of the hair on almost everybody's head; the authentic rippling texture of the bullet holes in Arnie's leather jacket.

The Terminator Blu-ray (Remastered)

Through the story of an emotionless, virtually indestructible monster that will literally stop at nothing to destroy its targets, Cameron is able to tap into some of mankind's most basic fears, creating a visceral and truly frightening "tech noir" that hasn't lost any of its terrifying luster. That all changes when she encounters this emotionless killing machine from the future, but lucky for her Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) was also sent back in time, as a protector. For more about Terminator 2: Judgment Day and the Terminator 2: Judgment Day Blu-ray release, see Terminator 2: Judgment Day Blu-ray Review published by Martin Liebman on May 10, 2009 where this Blu-ray release scored 4. Through pioneering SFX work and an unrelenting cinematic pace, Cameron brings an energetic and raw visual style to the proceedings. No, the picture is brimming with excellent detailing, it just doesn't have any organic grain and thus doesn't look anything like it did back in 1991.Clarity is substantially improved as well, and while the movie still shows its gritty, low budget roots, there is now a strong sense of fine detail and dimension that was previously absent. In fact, there are a few shots that actually look a bit more natural than the previous transfer, which occasionally had more of a washed out, faintly magenta/purple push to it. Sarah Connor’s ordeal is only just beginning as she struggles to protect her son John, the future leader of the human resistance against the machines, from a new Terminator, sent back in time to eliminate John Connor while he’s still a child. In the year 2029, the ruling super-computer Skynet sends an indestructible cyborg back in time to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor, the woman who will birth its greatest enemy. Likewise, the entire runtime isn't completely slathered in teal, and there is some nice pop in bright outdoor scenes. Effects are finely balanced and get enough LFE input to give them tangible weight too, with some discrete dissemination across the array during the more expansive pyrotechnics, although the score is so much a part of the effects (from the incessant moan associated with the T-1000 to the more heroic tones afforded Arnie's saviour) that it almost always takes precedence. This one was the original release(I think), but it has the exact same reviews as this one, which is a newer release and apparently has the cuts I mentioned. James Cameron‘s sci-fi masterpiece The Terminator finally comes to Blu-Ray with a brand new digitally remastered video transfer that fixes virtually every problem on the previously released disc that has been in circulation for years. Dialogue is relatively clean, though there are some slight distortions and crackles in the high frequencies.Seamless branching could have (and easily has, on other Ultra HD Blu-ray releases) been implemented here to allow for access to the 16 minute longer Special Edition Version and 19 minute longer Extended Special Edition Versions, both of which are present on the accompanying Blu-ray (along with the Theatrical Cut), and it's arguably this lazy omission that speaks more towards the likelihood of a later re-issue than any of the controversies surrounding the video. As said before, don't know if it's coming to UK but considering how often T2 is rereleased, I'd say it's inevitable it'll turn up at some point.

These are much more subtle, with many reviews making it sound like this is some revisionist look a la The French Connection. With the exception of an occasional teal push that might put off some viewers, the new picture is a sizeable improvement. I took exchanged the set for another at a different location and Genisys still has no features tab on the main menu.Of course there's no reason why it should need to stand alongside modern digital blockbusters, but, perhaps, that's just what Cameron wanted it to look like for it's 4K bow. As I said, one of the reviews said there are scene in T1 that are cut from one of those two release. Her character's gradual strengthening over the course of the story is handled well, and effectively hints at the more dramatic changes she will endure in the sequel. Interviews with the VFX crew and behind-the-scenes footage are also provided, detailing how miniatures and forced perspective were used in the process. Whilst it's no real surprise to find that there are no extras adorning the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc (although lazy it's pretty common practice these days, and happened in the early years of Blu-ray too), what is a real shame is the lack of integrated alternate cuts on the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc itself.
