About this deal

The Google Pixel 6 was unveiled on October 19, 2021 alongside the Google Pixel 6 Pro, and each of these smartphones were released on October 25. While cameras can zap battery when you're taking burst shots or shooting 4K video, I'm happy to report that even when using the camera for a half-hour, swapping between photos and videos, I didn't see much of a battery dip. Another happy fact I can report: I didn't experience any overheating of the Pixel 6 during long photo photo-taking sessions or over an hour of my match-three game. The overheating issues we've seen on previous Pixels seem to have been fixed on the Pixel 6 — at least, that's how it looks after a week of heavy use. Images from leaker Evan Blass show off the second generation Pixel stand with 23-watt wireless charging. Evan Blass Do the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have an under display fingerprint sensor? The company is again focusing its efforts on strengthening the Pixel’s camera capabilities. The rear camera is now a 50MP affair (up from 12.2MP), complemented by a 12MP ultrawide unit and a 12MP selfie snapper on the front. The camera’s new “Magic Eraser” tool now allows you to remove objects and people from the image just by circling them in the edit, too.The Pixel 6 also includes a 8-megapixel front-facing camera, in a punch-hole at the center-top of the display, which has an 84-degree field of view and f/2.0 aperture.

Face Unblur can remove the blur from a face in motion if the camera can recognize the face and it isn't too blurred . Again, it can't work miracles. The most important thing to note is that the Pixel 6 is the very first handset to be powered by Google’s in-house Tensor chipset. Ditching Qualcomm and avoiding Exynos and Kirin, Tensor promises a handful of performance and efficiency improvements over last year’s mid-range Snapdragon 765G, and it represents a bold new future for Google.

Ben Wood, the chief analyst for CCS Insight, said extended software support was a good move. “CCS Insight’s research shows consumers are now holding on to their phones for longer than ever, on average for at least four years, so sustained software updates is becoming more important.”

Moving on to the actual display itself, we have a 6.4-inch OLED touchscreen with a 90Hz refresh rate and 1080p resolution. I'm fine with the resolution and the refresh rate on the 6 — I'm not a 120Hz snob, and 2K resolution would just mean more pixels to render, and more battery wasted lighting them — but you'll notice the 500Hz max brightness if you're outside in full, unadulterated sun. Once you're in any sort of shade, cloud cover, or the sun is nearing sunset, the screen looks great, and it always looks good indoors. If you're going to be outside with this phone for prolonged periods every day, you might need to look elsewhere for screens in the 900-1000-nit range like the Galaxy S21.

Tensor Is Here

Fully agree with your statement above. The Pixel 6 photos are very natrual and don't add pop as the Iphone does. When I take photos I look for natrual photos not what someone thinks potos should look like

The main camera, it’s worth noting, has a large 1/1.2in sensor, 1.2um pixels and is capable of capturing 150% more light than the main camera on the Pixel 5. It’s pretty darn good, in other words, especially in low light. Almost immediately, there’s a noticeable improvement in detail capture and sharpness, with the Pixel 6 Pro’s scenic images looking spectacular in practically every instance. Like last year, the Pixel 6 has a dual rear camera setup, although this now consists of a 50MP main camera that captures 150% more light than before and a 12MP ultrawide camera. Note that the sensor on the main camera is a whopping 1/1.3in in size (bigger than the iPhone 13 Pro Max’s main camera sensor) and has pixels that are 1.2um wide. But he said good phones at competitive prices would not be enough: “Google is going to have a spend a small fortune to move the needle if it wants to be a major smartphone player. There is still a huge swathe of consumers who don’t even know that Google makes phones or, in some cases, that Android is a Google product.” The Google Pixel 6 represents quite a departure from recent Pixel phone launches. Not only is it unashamedly premium in its design, but it costs the same amount as the Pixel 5 did at launch, is significantly faster and comes with improved cameras and a revamped UI.

The Pixel 6 can take comfort in how it performed in a real-world test where we use Adobe Premiere Rush to transcode 4K video into 1080p. While the Galaxy S21 and the OnePlus 9 both took a little more than 1 minute to complete the task, the Pixel 6 finished the job in 49 seconds. It's not the 26-second result the iPhone 13 produced, but it's one of the better times we've seen from an Android phone. Our guess is that our battery test burdens the older 5G modem in the Pixel 6, as its subpar performance was in line with 5G phones we saw in early 2020. In real world usage over a mix of 5G, LTE and Wi-Fi, the Pixel 6's battery held up pretty well — not enough to challenge devices with the best phone battery life, but enough so that you won't need to seek out a mid-day recharge. Using a fully charged Pixel 6, I spent an afternoon taking pictures and running some other tests before leaving the handset unplugged overnight. The next morning, I still had a 71% charge remaining. A 4,614mAh battery powers the Pixel 6. In our early battery drain tests, where we stream HD video over Wi-Fi at full brightness, the phone averaged 23 hours and 11 minutes before shutting down. During a week of regular use, we only needed to charge the phone twice and didn't notice any battery depletion when there wasn't any use. The Pixel 6 supports 30W fast charging via USB-PD 3.0 and compatible third-party adapters. Qi wireless charging maxes out at 12W, but the upcoming Pixel Stand 2 supports fast charging at up to 21W. The phone also features reverse power-sharing capabilities. Sub-6GHz 5G or the Full 5G Experience?
