In 1975, the Fernandes Distillery was acquired by Angostura, bringing many of its legendary brands under the Angostura umbrella. Still, it wasn’t until 2001, after years of careful research, testing and development, that Angostura re-introduced 1919 to the world. In doing so, Angostura’s master blenders were careful to replicate the same techniques and production principles developed by Mr. Fernandes in 1932. The result is a masterpiece, which at its core is anything but a quintessential Angostura rum.

Angostura Reserva: A white rum sold internationally that is aged for a minimum of three years before being filtered. Továreň na výrobu rumu sa pýši piatimi kolónami. Single Barrel Reserve: A blend of rums aged in single select bourbon oak casks for a minimum of five years. Továrna na výrobu rumu se pyšní pěti kolonami. Společnost kupuje výhradně domácí melasu a po laboratorních zkouškách ji přečerpává do kvasných kádí. Pomocí vlastních kvasinek dojde během 48 hodin k nastartování procesu kvašení a samotná fermentace může trvat maximálně 72 hodin. Vše probíhá pod dozorem Mastera Blendera, John-a Georges-a. Vedeli ste, že spoločnosť House of Angostura vyrába tzv. Angostura Bitters, čo sú preslávené koktailové bitters na báze horca, bylín a korenia. Tieto sa obvykle používajú v mixológii na dochutenie nápojov, využitie ale majú aj v kuchyni, kedy jedlám dodajú ďalší chuťový rozmer. Angostura Bitter je podstatnou ingredienciou jedného z najobľúbenejších koktejlov v baroch na svete – Manhattan. Láhev má embosovaný nápis House of Angostura a datum založení 1824. Na černo-stříbrné etiketě je vše běžné, podstatné. Karton/tuba mají pěknou stříbrnou barvu a působí elegantně (rum se hodí i jako dárek). Název rumu, který ochutnávám, odkazuje na sudy s rumem s datem 1919. Ty se podařilo zachránit před velkým požárem, který vypukl v roce 1932 v okolí Vládního konsorcia rumu. Společnost Angostura svůj rum pojmenovala jako připomínku na tuto událost.

Legacy: A special blend of seven of the brand’s most rare and precious rums. Only 20 bottles have been produced and until 2014, [7] this was the most expensive rum in the world. [8] The rum doesn’t stand up well when mixed. Cola just drowns it out. You are left with a very smooth cola drink with a little hint of oak but nothing really else coming through. The rum is really to subtle for mixing. To be fair to this rum, it isn’t intended as anything other than a sipping rum. Angostura 7 Year Old: A dark rum that is available internationally and aged for a minimum of seven years. started its life as a Fernandes brand. The Angostura 1919 of today is a recreation of the original. Looks are one thing but really its all about the taste. When poured in the glass the rum is almost straw coloured rather than the amber hue in the bottle. The nose of the 1919 is predominantly vanilla. There is a little “oak and smoke” and a very small scent of fruit. Perhaps a little banana but very subtle.Uncommon travelers, by definition, are oddballs. We frequent roads less traveled by the masses. Our favorite cuisine is the one most consumed by locals. The type of deep, authentic cultural experiences that we seek enrich not just our fleeting moments abroad, but our entire lives. In this sense, when it comes to rum, Angostura 1919 should be our favorite. The reason relates as much to this fine rum’s history, as it does to its exceptional richness and flavor. ( poštová známka) In the glass, 1919 exudes a brilliant golden-brown hue that sparkles in the light like tinsel. On the nose, prepare to be swept off your feet by sweet notes of toffee and caramel, though not quite to the sweetness level you get from traditional Angostura rums.
