Its roots lie in the previous edition of D&D and it maintains a similar playstyle. Much like D&D, Pathfinder enjoys a lively and widespread community with plenty of organized events to attend.

Steal from fiction. There is absolutely nothing wrong with re-creating a character you like from fiction. You can even steal from reality. If you want to make a character inspired by Captain Ahab then you do just that. Do try and make the character your own, though. What if Captain Ahab was an Orc Barbarian from the plains? Maybe his white whale would be a white rhino. These conventions are often paired with science fiction, fantasy, anime, comic book, and video game conventions. Do not be alarmed if this is the case for your local convention, just look at your convention map and find out where they have placed the game tables. One of the most difficult things about making a new character is coming up with the overall concept. It’s a very simple thing to say, “Make a character.” and quite another to come up with a character that you want to make. Here are some tips for getting over that initial hump.June - The Innkeeper of the June Alley Inn. Very hospitable and carries out the tradition to judge the best of tales told by her clients in debt with the winner having his/her debt removed. Do not bring a new player without discussing it with the Guide first. If playing at someone’s private residence then you should discuss it with the Host as well. Lieam - Although one of the Guard's youngest members, he has earned the respect of his fellow Guardsmice several times over with his proven heroism and swordsmouseship. Golarion is a high fantasy world filled with gnomes, elves, dwarves and all manner of other fantastic races. With the Pathfinder RPG, a player can jump in ready to craft their own epic adventures or join the famed Pathfinder Society, a group of covert agents and adventurers, to further the goals of Inner Sea factions. The end of the session then involves a ritualized procedure in which rewards are given out for characters who met their Goal, as well as involved their Beliefs and/or Instincts in the session's play. This reward procedure actively involves the whole table, both the players and the GM, in determining who deserves special recognition and who doesn't. This is one of my favorite parts since it involves the whole group rather leaving the decision solely up to the game master - as a GM, often events or play that I thought was pretty run-of-the-mill turn out to be really powerful or significant in the eyes of the other players and thus involving them in making these decisions is only natural.
