When describing the Salomon Supercross, it is impossible to not compare it to the very similar Salomon Speedcross 5. The tongue is connected to the upper on both sides which keeps the tongue centered and keeps debris out, It also adds to the overall look of the shoe. You can see the massive difference between the height of the foam underfoot in the forefoot and the heel.

Although the Salomon shoe provides plenty of support and grip for trail runs, they are not mountaineering boots. This softer feel makes them suitable for those trail adventures which may involve some pavement and also where the deep chevron lugs’ grip are key. The weave of the upper material reminded me of rip-stop fabric used in tents and other outdoor gear. One could consider it as the sloppier, mud and snow conditions door to trail sibling of the Sense Ride 2 ( RTR Review ) although it ran just fine on hard packed smoother single tracks. That said, we have noticed from wearing these shoes for years that the deep lugs have a propensity to wear down or rip off over time, and as they do so, the forefoot protection becomes noticeably lower.But with the promise of a minimum 2-year warranty on all its products, I think you'll probably still get your money's worth, and if you have any issues, give Salomon a shout.

The EneryCell midsole and Ortholite diecut footbed work together to provide supreme cushioning and comfort underfoot. The soft, stitch-free upper sole is also very comfortable against, with less chance of chafing and irritability.

I was bowled over by the appearance of the Salomon Supercross 3 gtx; they are a really attractive shoe that doesn't have too much bulk. Most runners and hikers appreciate having enough room for the toes to splay, but this may not be ideal for those who have to ascend and descend while hiking or running on the trail as this requires a snugger fit. GORE-TEX is perfect for a trail running shoe; this breathable membrane is great for keeping water out whilst allowing moisture to pass through and it's super lightweight.
