The campaign sees Lina confidently pose in a red cut-out bra and slip skirt with suspenders and playful bunny ears. The pointed bra, whirlpool bra, bullet bra, and sweater girl bra remained popular from the late 1940s and into the 1950s thanks to their ultra-feminine appeal. The pointed, comically stitched, and padded bra is what gave the breast its false point at the end and enhanced weight. Without the protruding bullet shape, many dresses, tops, and sweaters from the 1950s would be ill-fitting. My mother told me once that getting old was a blessing and a curse - on the one hand, she doesn't have to worry about men trying to coax her into cars, on the other she is now invisible. Older women, no longer considered useful by society as baby-makers nor sexual objects, are ignored. We felt it was important to question the obsession with youth, and photograph two amazing older women, Pam and Lina. Emma, our director, has her own reasons for the project.
