About this deal

Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses and Elton John will headline this year’s Glastonbury. During a new interview, the latter said the historic appearance was “the most wonderful way to sign off in England” before he retires from touring. Curiously, ‘Over And Out’ is the title of a 2005 song by Foo Fighters – whose name has also been associated with The Churnups. Some fans online have unearthed a 2021 Seattle Times article in which it’s said that frontman Dave Grohl used to be in a band called ‘Churn’. Since the full schedule was revealed at the end of May, people have been sharing their theories about who the mystery act will be - and there are some options that seem more plausible than others.

Whether The Churnups' true identity will be officially revealed ahead of their show is yet to be seen but Emily Eavis suggested it might. Speaking to Radio 2 ahead of the Churnups performance, the festival organiser told presenter Zoe Ball: "It's coming soon". She said: “To be honest, I think there’s a lot of rumours that are circulating about The Churnups one of which is true. I don’t think I can completely confirm but it’s coming soon." Aside from The Churnups’ set, there are multiple ‘TBA’ slots on the Glastonbury 2023 line-up – the most prominent being two on the Woodsies stage (Friday, June 23 at 7:30pm BST, and Saturday, June 24 at 6pm BST). Get your arse off the grass!” Chardine Taylor-Stone bellows, as sprawling, heat-exhausted bodies climb to their feet and bring themselves forward to the stage in the Left Field tent. She warns one final time that if you sit down during their set, the band will just assume you’re a Tory voter. Cassyette’s got range. One minute she’s grinning and shimmying, and the next she’s bent in half ripping one of the most searing screams heard at Glastonbury this year. Her late-night set at the Truth Stage sees her perform to a small yet lively crowd. Dubbed as a “Kerrang!-friendly hardcore singer” on the festival’s app, she consistently shares how psyched she is to be playing one of her multiple sets here.

In addition, 2023 marks 25 years since Foo Fighters first performed at Glasto – on the same day and in the same slot as The Churnups are billed. Of course everyone in the alt. crowd knows who Simon Neil and Mike Vennart are, but if you came to catch Empire State Bastard expecting a similar vibe as their day jobs in Biffy Clyro, you’d be vastly mistaken.

The Foos – who have previously played surprise gigs under the moniker The Holy Shits – have space in their schedule to make a return to Glastonbury as it stands. They headlined the event in 2017, after being forced to cancel their appearance two years prior.Glastonbury Festival 2023 full line-up schedule revealed with detailed breakdown of stages and set times
