About this deal

Discussion thread for the first instalment of the two-part finale of the Siege of Terra series. The Garro novella will be released in January. The centrepiece of part two is Sanguinius vs Horus. And that is very different in every respect to the centrepiece of part three, which is Horus vs the Emperor. There was a very deliberate attempt on my part to make sure those things didn’t just become just more of the same.” Unfortunately, we live in this one, and the fact is that we have a sprawl of plotlines that require resolution (or continuation) before we get to the fun stuff. We are resigned - resigned, perhaps, is not the most positive word, but an appropriate one, I think - to an entire book of character shuffling. We must finish our narrative sprouts before we get our just desserts. Can see book one being the lead up with the final war council, malcador going on the throne, perpetuals getting into positions, custodians and flo doing something etc and it ending with the teleport up/relief fleet breaking into the system.

He’s on his way to becoming something even more dreadful yet, but he almost alone among the Traitor forces is aware of what they’re sacrificing and he hates it! He wants to be the warrior that he knows, and to win by military means – but things are slowly slipping away.” We have seen an almighty void war ravage the heavens as Horus Lupercal’s fleet punched through Rogal Dorn’s defences in The Solar War . Battle lines met on Terra, and traitor Primarchs unleashed their unnatural powers in The Lost and the Damned . Perturabo commanded a battle of bloody attrition in The First Wall , making it his mission to undo the Praetorian of Terra’s impregnable defences. This weekend, the eighth – The End and the Death: Volume I by Dan Abnett – will be upon us, closing out the series in a multi-part spectacular. It’s one of the most important narrative events in Warhammer history, and to make sure you’re all caught up before the awe-inspiring climax, we’ve put together a guide to the major moments. There’s one point that he’s especially eager to stress: this isn’t the third book in a trilogy. It’s the third part of a single novel that was simply too huge to publish. This has nothing to do with the review but it’s my favourite relevant art. Horus and the Emperor, Adrian Smith. Credit: GW. I was looking forward to returning to characters like Loken – who obviously has got to be in it because he was there at the start – and Jon Grammaticus. But as is ever the case, when you’re writing a character, you bond with them in a weird way and they become a favourite. So I loved writing Malcador and other characters who I’ve never really had the same level of time to spend with.

Guilliman races across the stars to reinforce the Throneworld. Will he return to ashes, where a Warmaster of Chaos has ascended to godhood, or will the Emperor have triumphed? And at what cost?

You seem to be under the impression that the Horus Heresy series of books is going to end in a way that radically changes the setting. And while he’s now finished with the Horus Heresy, Dan’s far from finished with Warhammer. He’s working on another novel set at a more contemporary period in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, one with a very different scope – but we wouldn’t be Warhammer Community if we told you what that was just yet! For now, he just hopes that people enjoy the end of the saga. It all comes down to one final, climactic confrontation: the Emperor versus Horus. The father against the son.

Terra is besieged. Humanity’s salvation lies on a knife edge. The Warmaster Horus’ bloody seven-year crusade has led to this: the cradle of mankind, where he is to kill his father, the Emperor.

Zograt the grot receives an unexpected boon from the Bad Moon in Bad Loon Rising by Andy Clark, as the power of the Clammy Hand gives him just the boost he needs to ascend from the grim depths of grotdom. Together with his troggoth companion Skrog he embarks on a quest to become the greatest Loonboss the Mortal Realms have ever known – a mad aspiration, but one that just might be within his reach. Warhammer Community: The (Beginning of the) End Is Nigh – The Final Siege of Terra Story Is Revealed (posted 31/8/2022) (last accessed 31/8/2022) Working out the story he wanted to tell must have been the most difficult part of writing this for Dan Abnett, because we know what should be in this book and can even guess what should be in part two – the shields of Horus’ flagship are lowered, the Emperor, Dorn, Sanguinius and his Custodian Guard teleport aboard. A fight ensures. Now is the perfect time to catch up on all 62 books from the Horus Heresy . Or, at the very least the eight currently available Siege of Terra novels.* Pushed for time? Get a recap of the events from The Solar War to Echoes of Eternity right here .

With the war at this critical juncture, Sanguinius, primarch of the loyalist Blood Angels, braves the horrors of the Warmaster’s flagship, The Vengeful Spirit, with a single purpose in mind: to slay his brother Horus, decapitate the Heresy once and for all, and stop the forces of Chaos from taking Holy Terra. All of this – every tale, no matter how small – has led to this finale: Siege of Terra: The End and the Death: Volume 1. Yes, Volume 1. You’ll just have to wait and see what this means for the final story!
