About this deal

In the last, maybe 2 chapters did I begin to actually warm to Persephone, but I don’t think she actually learned from any of her mistakes? Fantastic performance in this, but the amount of miscommunication resulting from Persephone childish/naive personality was too much for me to really enjoy this.

His love and kind of obsession for Persephone will lead to a lot of adventures and casualties, but considering how much he was been waiting for her, I think everything was worth it. Although I should’ve learned this last year with A Court of Thorns and Roses or Throne of Glass, but I was less serious about being bookish last year.

Trading Address (Warehouse) Unit E, Vulcan Business Complex, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EB. Persephone on the other hand was kind of difficult to understand, I sensed a lot of immaturity from her side and that she was very confused. Her world feels like she stole a lot from Lore Olympus, The amazing and successful webcomic series which has been picked up by Netflix, to be produced by Jim Hensen studios. I loved the details we got, and the introduction to new characters and deities, and although the ending was heavily foreshadowed throughout the novel and was completely unexpected (although totally keeping with the developing story), I am still eagerly anticipated the conclusion of this story in late 2023 *sobs*.

But Demeter is wreaking havoc on their bliss by battering the whole of New Greece with erratic and dangerous weather. Despite her attraction to the god, Persephone, an ambitious journalism student, is determined to expose Hades for his cruel and ruthless ways. Persephone was graduating school and had this fantastic intern job as a journalist, carving her own way in the world away from her mother. I loved the contemporary twist on ancient characters and it was really fun to see these gods and goddesses in a new setting – very much Lore Olympus vibes. We get just a touch of toxicity from the romance here and there, but what’s a dark romance without it?I also really appreciated that we got to see other gods and the way that they were described at the Gala was such a fun scene! To add to her troubles, everyone seems eager to warn Persephone away from the God of the Underworld by exposing his hellish past. I didn't like Persephone as a journalist and some of the dialog was tough to believe but all in all 3. So much of these books were inspired by myths, and once you finish this series, you will be familiar with the basic family tree of the Greek gods (well, as familiar as a person could be with that incestuous mess), as well as key monsters and stories which you will find in the ancient sources such as the Odyssey by Homer and Hesiod’s Theogony and Works and Days. At worst he stays silent, and at best he'll say something along the lines of, "It's not like that," but doesn't follow up with an explanation.

Persephone’s character seems to have been written purposefully to aid in the whole ‘miscommunication’ trope, but instead of actually having issues of miscommunication, she just doesn’t tell Hades anything? We did get more Hermes (my ultimate favourite character), and some new gods took more of the spotlight than the first book, namely Apollo. This book covers just over 6 months, and Persephone doesn't just ~not~ stay away from gods, she ends up becoming very acquainted with many! What I got instead was an increasingly annoying, stupid, bratty, and insecure Persephone, who seemed to learn absolutely nothing from the events of Book 1.

The writing is so poor, uses the characters name about 17 times on each page ‘Persephone was thirsty, Persephone’ cup was empty, Persephone picked up her cup for drink, I have quenched my thirst. Clair breathes new life into the myth of Hades and Persephone, crafting a narrative that will resonate with readers of all ages. She has created an alternative world that is so unique, and she has depicted the gods and their stories in new and interesting ways.

Hades has the same intensity, the same power, only that now we can see him more human and more aware of his feelings and vulnerability. She has a master’s degree in library science and information studies and a bachelor’s in English writing. But Persephone has a chance encounter with Hades, God of the Dead, and enters into an impossible contract. However, once they’ve finished, Hades is able to mark Persephone, indicating that she is now under contract with him.
