About this deal

I also really liked the differentiation between Bob and Computer Bob in this book and that Maddy interacted with them as different people and also, that some of the chapters are seen from Computer Bob's perspective. I thought that was really nice.

For the first time in the series you really sense something bigger lurking in the shadows, waiting to pop out and ramp up the intrigue a notch or two. Coincident with that is a further "layering" of the characters from what has been seen before. They are starting to feel more three dimensional and slightly more well rounded than they have been previously. For those who have not, I suggest you go read his other thrillers, A thousand Suns, Last Light, Afterlight and October Skies all also brilliant stories. Where Alex Scarrow did succeed was describing the environment and bringing Rome alive. He especially nailed down the madness of Caligula, which was a great read - I'd suggest reading The Twelve Caesars for a more, academic read on the character of Caligula. It's interesting how the theme of Caligula's professed divinity overlapped into the narrative. No orgies or blood here though, this book is meant for kids!!

If you know anything about Caligula you can only imagine what he would do if he had access to not just modern - by our terms - but future technology. Well that's what's at the core of this novel and, without giving anything away, I can honestly say that it doesn't end well. HQ in 2001 loses power, and Foster and co. have to go to find diesel for the generator. They get some, which is good because they need it to get Liam and Bob home safely. This is a fun series for any age, i'm 40 and i love them, I have bought all of them for myself, my 21 year old son, my 15 year old nephew, 12 year old niece, various cousins and my friends kids and they all love them.

Welcome one and all to the second book in Alex Scarrow's Timeriders series. I sound a little more upbeat in comparison to the first novel don't I? Well I am. It's much improved. Another great installment in the time traveling series, that once more manages to include a brilliant main plot, great factual historical (and new historical) detail, whist continuing the overall story arc of the series, as to just who is the mysterious Foster who recruited our heroes, and just what is the Agency they work for.. I love the characters as well. Liam is such a good-hearted boy, and Maddy is smart and on her toes. I wish I knew more about Sal, but I'm trusting that we'll learn more about her as the series progresses. Scarrow also does a great job making their support unit -- who takes on a new identity in Day of the Predator -- a character that I connected with, too. Lastly, there was something dropped at the end that caught me totally by surprise! I'm not going to give it away, but it was a great twist :)But all three have been given a second chance—to work for an agency that no one knows exists. Its purpose: to prevent time travel destroying history.” Bob spends six months looking for Liam. Along the way, he accidentally recruits a bunch of followers who think he’s some sort of guardian angel. I think that if I allowed my children to read this, they would be insulted that I would think this is a good book for them to read. Rashim Anwar – A scientific technician from the year 2070, he was part of "Project Exodus", a project to re-create Waldstein's time travel technology and alter the past in Gates of Rome. He is recruited to the team by Maddy due to his knowledge of future events, with the team only being able to access information of history up to the year 2054. In the alternate timeline caused by Project Exodus, the team discover a much older version of Rashim held captive by Emperor Caligula in Ancient Rome. He leads the team to safety where they then meet and recruit the younger Rashim whilst he is left to die in peace. Rashim then helps the team to set up a new field office in Holborn viaduct in Victorian London. He dies after catching the Kosong-ni virus during the team's final trip to 2070. Get ready for TimeRiders: The Mayan Prophecy, the 8th book in Alex Scarrow's #1 bestselling time-travel adventure series.
