To create a mesh, you’ll need at least two hardware units. One will work as the main router and the other as a satellite. Later on, you can add more satellites if need be. Hi Jim, I have tried using an Asus RT-AC68u as an AiMesh node, connected to an RT-AC5300 (main router). Although it “works”, performance is terrible. I then bought another RT-AC5300, and connected it as an AiMesh node (and removed the 68u). Now, performance is top notch!
