About this deal

Like the first book, it felt like rules were bent and added on and multiplied on top of each other to make certain things possible, and ignored to make certain things possible. It's pushing the boundaries of how horny you can make something, for the pleasure of an adult audience, and still shelving the book as YA.

Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. I have my criticisms about how in books like this, race only feels skin deep, but an attempt was made. the copy i read said it was 600 pages long, so that’s the metric i’m going to describe it by (it also felt 600 pages long), even though goodreads says it’s only 300 and something. Aster has a dedicated audience of more than 905,500 followers on TikTok with 100 million views, and 60K followers on Instagram.grim's brutality, possessiveness, his unwillingness to share information makes him utterly insufferable. Alex Aster is an author of YA fiction as well as award-winning middle grade fiction, including the Emblem Island series, which was published to critical acclaim.

the writing is also just not super nice, and if there were issues with the world building in the first book they are more than apparent now. It's obviously supposed to be a big deal but the symbolism doesn't have any root to an idea or an emotion.did you know, radiohead copyright sued lana del rey for her song “get free” allegedly being too similar to “creep.

alex aster tries to ratchet up the stakes of this book with no regard for how to effectively impart danger, distress or anguish. No wonder there are rebellions and shit because if I had to live my entire life under a shitty curse because some ruler got cheated on and turned into the joker and then a different ruler got weird and petty and started a war, then I'd make a rebellion too, tf?

A lot of people seemed to think the first book was Like That just because it was a pet project she’d had since being a teen, and that writing another might force her to have original thoughts. as someone who has been listening to ok computer on repeat for the last month and had lana del rey as their top spotify artist this year, i feel uniquely qualified to talk about this. this is not the happy ending i wanted, but it’s also not the tragedy i would have taken, so it’s just boring instead.

Oro girlies we're winning battles, even though we will inevitably lose the war (a sequel has not been announced but it's probably going to get a sequel). The book does not have much to say about love or pain or the cure/poison other than reflecting how Isla loves, how Grim feels pain, and uhhh.
