About this deal

The twists and subplots are what keep the book going and although at times it is a bit far fetched, he keeps the momentum going until you are gasping for breath. Mary Towne contacts missing persons investigator David Raker claiming to have seen her dead son Alex. The point for me was I found I liked the character of David Raker and cared about what happened to him which made some of the more brutal bits hard to take at times. Biography: Tim Weaver is the Sunday Times bestselling author of thirteen novels, including No One Home, The Blackbird and The Last Goodbye, and a short story collection. All in all, Chasing the Dead gets added to my list of favorites and Tim Weaver continues to be an author whose work I’m going to diligently follow.

Until, haunted by the unsolved murders of a mother and her twin daughters, his life was left in ruins. When Susan discovers that her daughter had been kidnapped by, what seemed to be a monster, she dropped everything and set off to look for her. The lab escape at the end of the second chapter is way too big, and there was an enormous tower in Afganistan. This is one of those books that, while crap, I reluctantly enjoy for being such all-out ridiculous crap.

It starts off with an appropriately mysterious meeting between a pair of children, moves to a busy mother's innocuous day that we know is leading to trouble, and then begins a fast-paced thriller chase that keeps inching up the scare factor. Still raw and grieving from the loss of his wife, David reluctantly agrees to look for Alex and finds himself caught up in a violent and deathly chase for survival. I’ve only heard positive reviews about this series and being an OCD reader I needed to start at the beginning to learn the full story behind the main character and so I’ve downloaded all Tim’s other books and started Chasing the Dead. I first read the fourth book, 'Never Coming Back', which, whilst being a tad unbelievable, I really enjoyed it. Born, left behind in a hospital by her biological mother a young woman who feels an affinity with the abandoned dead, finds more than she bargained for. The writing style is easy to read and gripping, and Weaver ensures that he keeps you turing the pages relentlessly.

That is the best word to describe this book, because, although it was a novel it felt like scary movie.A year after the death of her son Alex, Mary Towne is convinced she's seen him alive - and she wants missing persons investigator David Raker to find him. During the investigation David bumped into much bigger mystery than just a disappearance and thereby put his life in acute danger. Missing persons investigator David Raker doesn't want the work: it's clearly a sad but hopeless case of mistaken identity brought to him by a woman unable to let go of her son. The "ordinary man in an extraordinary situation" template is all very well, but Raker is so distractingly polite and well balanced, it's hard to believe he has it in him to do as the novel requires and turn vigilante.
