The purpose of stained glass windows is to let light into a space while also enhancing the visual appeal of a room. TIME caught up with Gigli before the mid-November release of a new book looking back at his life’s work. We take intellectual property concerns very seriously, but many of these problems can be resolved directly by the parties involved.

Demolition on the brownstones has already begun — that’s why there’s no glass in those windows — and the day after the shoot, the buildings will be razed. Perched from the fire escape of his studio, he was able to capture action happening across five floors. Artworks like these of any era or style can make for thoughtful decor in any space, but a selection from our variety of those made in film, photographic film and archival pigment print can add an especially memorable touch. In the end, Ormond gathered 43 women clad in their best formal wear and no two figures looked exactly alike; the posture and outfit each woman assumed alludes to what her personality might be like outside the confines of the photograph. Within the constraints of a two-hour window, Gigli meticulously arranged models, some of whom volunteered from an agency, some friends, and others being his wife and the demolition supervisor's wife.
