About this deal

whilst upstairs are three large bedrooms and two luxury bathrooms, all large and airy and with plenty of space to spread out and relax. My difficulties with this were partly linked to the fact that the tension between the psychological and the supernatural wasn’t resolved in a way I found particularly convincing, and partly to the representation of older and/or single women which seemed quite stereotypical. Although, to be fair, none of the characters came off that well overall: the dog was quite endearing but unfortunately failed to make it to the end. The central female character was especially problematic, self-deluding and manipulative which seemed to be attributed to her being lonely, single and on the verge of middle age: she reminded me of a younger version of Barbara in Zoe Heller’s Notes of a Scandal a novel I found intensely annoying but a lot of other people seemed to enjoy. So, I think it’s likely I just wasn’t a good fit for Hare House and I imagine that readers who enjoy these kinds of stories - rather than get trapped in them against their better judgement - will find it well worth their time. It’s not at all a bad piece of writing, and it’s often quite a gripping and eerie one. It’s just a little too open-ended, a little too conventional and a little too culturally conservative for my taste. God, I just loved this book. I know it’s impossible, but I wish everything I read could make me feel like this: alive with excitement about what fiction can do, half-certain it was written specifically for me, and immediately desperate to read it all over again.

The main character was untrustworthy and didn’t seem like the right narrator for this story. Her, and the rest of the characters were, for me, a little too predictable, too much like cookie-cutter characters. I didn’t find the story as tense or as thrilling or as spooky as I thought it would be, and I felt it was almost a bit too timid and conservative for me. After the house had lain vacant for three years, the MoorEnd Development Trust, a local charity, took charge in 2013. Part of the house is today occupied by small businesses, including an accountant, surveyor, councillors, an IT company, artists and crafters. There is a triple aspect open plan kitchen/dining room with fitted base and eye level units, granite worktops with upstands, an island with built-in cupboards, Belfast sink, breakfast bar and two under counter fridges, integrated Miele appliances including five combi ovens, dishwasher, four-door Aga and walk-in pantry.Very comfortable. Great location, only a minute from Chipping Norton high street and with it shops, pubs and restaurants..

Three bedrooms: 1 x first floor king-size double, 1 x first floor double, 1 x second floor twin with en suite bathroom with roll top bath, hand-held shower, basin and WCBradnop in 1681. (fn. 111) The pair of houses in Bradnop village called School Cottages is probably Parking was not an great issue. There were only the two of us my wife and I, but we think with six it should be a little bit crowdy especially in the kitchen. Chipping Norton is a great place to explore the Cotswolds, we did many places of the National Trust (being member). We had fine eatings in the Fox and the Chequers It’s very clean and well appointed. Well equipped kitchen and large living room. Extra armchair would be useful for 6 people to be more comfortable. Unfortunately, I really did not like this book. Despite the beautiful prose, it was a slog to get through. The book is slow and I found myself bored several times throughout. A lot of mysterious and witchy things happen, but they never end up getting explained. I’m ok with a few things not being explained but the whole book and how it ended was just super vague. The reveal, if you can call it that, is simply implausible. I don’t like what the reveal suggested because it invalidates a lot of what the reader suspected was happening. And even with my theory of what happened I still have no idea what the hell actually happened. Just a lot of strange instances with no clear cut explanation or reasoning behind it. Lovely cottage in a great location 1 minute walk from centre of village and 1 minute from park which with kids and dog was perfect."

Generally, the pictures look great in the marketing, but the house is not to the same standard as the advertising. This book gave me a real sense of otherworldliness. It is set in the modern day, there are planes and computers but it reads as if it is a long past era. It is well written, very atmospheric, the descriptions of the crumbling old country house, the remote but beautiful location, the freezing weather and of course the spooky goings on in this picturesque corner of Scotland. Beautiful yet unsettling and at times unnerving and claustrophobic. The cottage is positioned just outside Carlton, a pretty village on the cusp of the North York Moors National Park. This village has a dining pub in the centre while the charming villages of Great Broughton (2 miles) and Osmotherley (9 miles) are worth a visit. Osmotherley in particular is a lovely spot for lunch, with lots of walking routes heading out from the village and across the moors. The cottage, which is one of two properties on the same complex, has a wonderful homely feel. The kitchen/diner is sleek and stylish with everything you need to cook up a storm and eat at the reclaimed oak table. Calming, neutral tones in the lounge make it warm and cosy; fire up the wood burner and sink into the sofas, curling up with a good book or watching your favourites on the TV while your canine companions snooze on the rug. Take a relaxing soak in the stylish bathroom after a long day out before heading to bed in the tranquil bedrooms for a peaceful night’s sleep. It also served as the town hall for the now defunct Littleborough Urban District Council, offices for Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council until 2010 and is now used by the local community for a variety of causes. In the first brisk days of autumn, a woman arrives in Scotland having left her job at an all-girls school in London in mysterious circumstances. Moving into a cottage on the remote estate of Hare House, she begins to explore her new home – a patchwork of hills, moorland and forest. But among the tiny roads, dykes and scattered houses, something more sinister lurks: local tales of witchcraft, clay figures and young men sent mad.
