About this deal

The prince, Asher, was a wet fart personified, and one of the most boring love interests (and characters) I’ve ever read. At first, I thought I knew who was the bad guy and everything would be clear, but after reading the book, everyone has a darkness to them that you never really know who’s bad or good. Stealing a car and running from the cops because you think they’re going to take you back to an abusive situation, when your only previous experience with cops was them saving you from a abusive situation?

It opens our eyes to the hurts, disappointments and failures of others that are all covered by the love of Jesus. The Divine was a New York Times bestseller, a Hugo Award nominee and the gold medal winner of the 9th International Manga Award. However, this year, she is one of five girls that will compete to become the next Empress of Latia, her homeland. However, while driving back home; she suddenly becomes ill when the vase she bought emits a powerful energy field causing her to crash her car. Overall, I would recommend this book if you love Greek/Roman mythology, strong female characters, morally gray male leads, slow burn romance, action, and drama.

A series of events finds Shannon send back to the 21st century alone, pregnant and surrounded by mysterious people. Delving into the lives of the oppressed population of Appia, Divine is undoubtedly thought-provoking and heart-wrenching – the perfect read for fans of Victoria Aveyard’s Red Queen series, the Hunger Games, and The Man in the High Castle.

What I did not expect, was for it to be a complete rip-off of The Hunger Games,The Selection, Divergent and Red Queen. I fell in love with the characters, and hope to learn even more about them in the following sequels.

Joshua Rivera from GQ wrote: "The Divine's story is unflinching and raw, and its art is quite possibly the most beautiful of any comic this year". The plot unfolds at a fine clip with as many unexpected twists and turns as fans of thrillers could wish for, making it difficult to put down. Additionally, I completely dislike the way that the relationship of two adult believers was portrayed: though they clearly loved each other, they refrained from starting a relationship/getting married because they each "committed themselves fully to God's work".

I mean I wasn't joyous and gentle and sin-free the moment I accepted Christ, and no one ever said, "Hey, you have Jesus eyes! To put it simply, Woodman had an actually interesting premise but over the course of 300 pages manage to butcher it. Bottom line: If you’re looking for a book in the inspirational genre with a tortured heroine who’s been through an experience similar to Mary’s but that has a gentler, less preachy message, and a much more positive outcome, try Francine Rivers’s Redeeming Love, which is a far superior book IMHO.Totally worth it, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes alternate history and anyone who likes Greek or Roman mythology. In a cross-cultural and global approach, this book discusses Eve alongside Inanna, Radha and Aphrodite in the context of sex and desire, while in the chapter in evil, witches and Hecate are compared with other deities like Lamashtu and the Cihuateotl, as well as monstrous women such as Taraka, Medusa, Rangda and Lilith. I also did not agree with how the author puts words into God's mouth by having him speak directly to a number of characters and appearing to a few others.
