About this deal

Put it all together and you’ve got the best Dyson you can buy: its most powerful cleaner to date, coupled with new technology that’s genuinely useful. The bagless technology is somewhat self-explanatory and means that you don’t have to spend extra money on replacement bags. While that’s a positive, emptying the dust container on these cleaners does produce dust clouds, no matter how careful you are. This means bagless cleaners aren’t the best for those who suffer from dust allergies.

It's also worth remembering that having multiple accessories can be more of a hindrance than a help, especially when storing them, which is another reason not to splash out on a model with expensive extras unless you're sure you need them. Dyson’s V8 Absolute cordless vacuum cleaner takes everything great about the already impressive V6 Absolute, and ramps things up a notch. It doesn’t look too dissimilar to its predecessor, and Dyson is hardly reinventing the wheel, but these intricate improvements over radical changes are what made the V8 Absolute the best cordless vacuum cleaner to buy when it first launched.

Dyson vacuums can be expensive, but we've found the best Dyson deals and cheapest prices for you

The screen on the vacuum unit also has new features and while it still helps you choose your cleaning mode and shows you how long your battery has left, it also reports on how well the V15 is cleaning your home and what kind of dust and dirt particles it’s collecting. Never Overfill the Bin – When actually using your Dyson V8, try to monitor the dust levels in the vacuum's bin. When the level exceeds the MAX level, you'll know that it's time to empty it. If the bin becomes too full, suction will be compromised, and you run the risk of damaging the V8's cyclones, so try to be disciplined about removing dirt as it is collected. In reality, cleaning your own house is one of the hardest chores that you need to do. It requires a lot of time and effort just to finish the chore but you can now have a companion while doing this. With Dyson V8 vacuum cleaner which is engineered for homes with hard floors. Your life would be easier. The V8 is drastically quieter than the previous V6, making vacuuming a less strenuous task. Dyson claims there’s a 50% reduction in noise, and while we’ll have to take Dyson’s word for it, it’s definitely noticeably easier on the ears. It’s a much lower-frequency sound, and while vacuuming is never a silent activity, it’s welcome to see the often excessive noise output has been reduced.

Let's be clear though: the V10 is an improvement over the V8 in some key areas. For starters, it has a longer battery life (60 minutes compared to 40 minutes), and it takes less time to charge (3.5 hours compared with 5 hours). It comes with a 0.77l dustbin, as opposed to the V8's 0.54l bin, and is hardly any heavier than the older model, weighing in at 2.67kg compared to 2.61kg for the V8.

The Dyson V8 Range: Powerful Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner from Dyson

Recycle your old vacuum for free It has the usual attachments for crevice cleaning and dusting, plus a small motorised head for mats and rugs, but is definitely not suitable if you’ve got more carpet than you’re prepared to vacuum on your hands and knees. For a cordless vacuum as expensive as the V8, I would have liked it if the trigger grip was more comfortable. It’s made from hard plastic and the side of the motor rubs against the top of your thumb, which can become a little uncomfortable. A softer plastic or rubber coating wouldn’t have gone amiss and would help with grip, too. Keep your V8 Dustbin Clean at All Times – Along with the filters, users will need to keep their dustbin free of dirt residues. Again, there's a technique to follow when doing so, and detergents should always be avoided. Carefully remove the bin via the red catch, and gently clean its interior with a wet cloth. Don't submerge it in water, and don't use any soap. Leave it to dry before replacing, then wipe around the rim with a dry cloth to remove any residues on the casing itself.

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to test the V8’s suction power using our standard test, which gives out a reading in kilopascals (kPa). This is because when you create a perfect seal with the V8’s nozzle the motor shuts down automatically after just a second, making it difficult to get an accurate reading of its full suction capabilities. This prevents undue strain on the motor should the pipe become clogged, but means we’ve had to rely on our more subjective tests. The V8 Absolute proved adept at going from hard floors to carpeted areas without any issues, making it a very versatile cleaner and certainly capable of a full-house clean with its improved battery life. The V8 is still very much a dual-function vacuum, acting as both a handheld and a standard cordless. You’re able to attach the V8’s multitude of accessories either directly to the handheld vacuum or used in combination with the now orange extension tube for vacuuming high or low. It was just as easy to clean the floor as it was to clean bookshelves or dusty ceiling corners. The Absolute model comes with three of these in the box: a hard floor head with a laser that highlights the dust on your floor to give you proof of your clean; a new High Torque Head that combs hair from itself as it vacuums your carpets; and a smaller motorised head for furniture and stairs with a unique corkscrew-shaped brush that releases hair from itself as it spins. There’s an increase in the suction, naturally, with this new vacuum’s stated suction power upgraded to 240 air watts, compared with 185 air watts in the equivalent V11. However, the headline innovations in this model are located in its motorised heads.

Never Use Your Dyson to Clean Liquids – This one will be obvious to some people, but it's worth reiterating: Dyson's cordless vacuums are not designed to clean fluid spillages, so don't use them for this purpose. It's a sure-fire way to damage the mechanism. green laser light that helps you spot where your hard floor is dirty; and the anti-tangle brush bar floor head for carpet, which guides hair off the roller and into the collection bin before it can wrap itself around the roller and become a problem. Needless to say, however, under our tests the Dyson V8 Absolute performed immaculately and just as well as some of the corded cylinder vacuums we’ve tested. The soft roller cleaner head made light work of our hard floor test, cleaning up 95% of the fine powder spill in one sweep and providing a buffeting shine while it went. This was with very little pressure exerted towards the floor, with a bit more force the V8 clears up the entire mess in one go. Cordless models were introduced in 2006, and swiftly became a trademark of Dyson's home appliances brand. But it was the “V” range that really changed things, taking power and suction to a completely new level. The V8 debuted in 2016, replacing earlier V6 varieties, and immediately proved a success. They have been refined, and in some ways improved since then, but remain a popular cleaning option in UK homes. So let's see what they have to offer.
