Although the game is up to 4 players, you can get an expansion with a new faction which allows a 5th player. The Expedition board is a first-come-first-served affair, and the available islands are refreshed each round, meaning if you do plan to go, you need to plan quick and act fast. If a player goes before you, they are going to raze your “spend three different resources for three points” Building each round. And speaking of the clans, the game comes with six different clans and each one of them really does play differently. I’m glad I got to get back on the bike with this gaming universe, even if I only liked Empires of the North, instead of loving it. Use an Action card’s ability: the player will pay the card’s ability cost – placing the paid costs onto the card – and then perform the action. Yes, in the base game, players will find six pre-constructed decks ready to use straight out of the box.
