About this deal

Made from microfibre with perfectly-placed cleaning fins and ribs, the QuadClean multi-surface brush-roll deep cleans all floor types, pulling in large debris, lifting embedded dirt and hair, loosening fine dirt, and capturing fine dust. Only with Detect Pro vacuum cleaners. The only time we got close to running down the battery was when we vacuumed the whole house on Clean Sense IQ mode, and then followed it up by using the Anti-Allergen Dusting Brush to clean the dust off four large window blinds, before using the duster crevice tool to clean floorboards in two rooms; even then we still had 20% left in the tank.

To empty the 0.72qt / 0.68L dust cup, which is fitted with a seal to prevent dust and allergens escaping into the air, you detach the main unit from the wand, and release a catch on the cup to deposit the contents into a bin. The dust cup is easy to remove and with the press of one button the dirt empties out of the bottom into the trash. However, we did find that on more than one occasion we had to manually pull some of the dirt out due to tangled hair which stopped it from falling out on its own, which is somewhat annoying. The filters have to be washed monthly to keep them from getting clogged but it’s an easy job and they last 2.3-3 years before they need to be replaced.

The handle features a display panel, and all the controls are conveniently placed here too. But we did find that when using it for longer periods of time, we had to keep repositioning our hand for comfort. If, like us, you’ve got small hands, you may find it uncomfortable if your grip is too close to the control panel for extended periods of time. The entry-level vacuums are less powerful and with smaller dust canisters, while as you move through the range the suction improves, as does the capacity and you’ll see the addition of handy tech that ensures the vacuum cleaner can be converted in handheld mode or stops hair getting tangled around the brush bar. The washable pre-motor filter needs rinsing monthly, whereas the post-motor HEPA only needs rinsing once a year. Both filters will need replacing after 2.5-3 years of use. All the filters are easy to access for cleaning and replacement. When vacuuming exclusively in boost mode, that battery lasted for just 11.5 minutes, so it’s best to utilize all the suction levels to prolong the battery during use. And though the selection of tools is useful, we’d have preferred if the US model was supplied with the mini motorized pet tool that comes with this vacuum if you buy it in the UK. Shark Vertex Pro Cordless Vacuum: Care and maintenance

Driven by data, run by a passionate team of engineers, testers, technical writers, developers, and more. When compared to a budget vacuum like the Aspiron Cordless Vacuum , the Shark starts to look like an expensive option. However, it comes with the Shark vacuum pedigree and it offers more accessories as well as better design and functionality. The vacuum doesn’t have a charging station or base, making it easy to store in a closet or other space between uses. The Vertex does come with an additional Pet Multi-Tool attachment for removing pet hair, and has a larger dust canister at 1qt / 0.95L compared to 0.72qt / 0.68L, but if you don’t need the pet hair tool we can’t see the smaller canister being a deal-breaker for many people. The Shark Stratos Cordless with Clean Sense IQ IZ862H helpfully has a MULTIflex wand which bends to increase the reach under furniture (Image credit: Future)We appreciated that the floorhead on the Shark Stratos Cordless with Clean Sense IQ IZ862H could twist at a 90-degree angle (Image credit: Future) Dyson cordless vacuums typically have a longer run time than Shark models, but even the Dyson V11 Outsize will only last around 15 minutes if you continuously use it on the Boost mode. The newest Dyson models claim to have a run time of 60 minutes, whereas the latest Shark cordless vacuums have a maximum battery life of 40 minutes. Thanks to the self-cleaning dual brushroll, hair never wrapped around the brush. The 0.72qt / 0.68L dust cup is large enough to hold quite a bit of dust and debris – we didn’t manage to fill it even after vacuuming our entire house three times.

If you'd like to see a rundown of all the cordless models offered by Shark and Dyson, see the table linked here. Dyson vs Shark: Corded Vacuums Unlike Dyson, Shark has persisted in maintaining a pretty large selection of corded vacuums in several different configurations. If you're the kind of buyer who isn't fully onboard with the cordless revolution, you should probably look at what they offer first. Shark's best known for their selection of upright vacuums, which include the Navigator and Rotator ranges; we've tested the Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away, the Shark Rotator Lift-Away ADV, the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe, and the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Speed. Most use the brand's 'Lift-Away' design, which places the main motor unit and dustbin within a removable canister module that can be lifted free of its floorhead and wand and carried around in one hand, enabling you to clean hard-to-reach areas with greater ease than the more traditionally-configured Dyson. Several replacement parts for the vacuum are available to buy from Shark, enabling you to prolong the life if anything breaks. Furthermore, the lengthy 5-year warranty covers manufacturing faults if you buy it from an authorized retailer. Shark Vertex Pro Cordless Vacuum: Price and availability This is awesome! There are so many fantastic features that are so easy to use. I love how adaptable the Shark Vertex is when it comes to getting under my furniture. It saves me so There are three power levels; Eco, Deep Clean, and Boost. These are controlled easily via the controls on the handle and this is also where the vacuum can be switched between carpet and hard floor modes. Additionally, the LCD screen displays the percentage of charge left in the battery so you can see at a glance when it needs a recharge. My new vacuum cleaner is fantastic! I’ve never been so passionate about a vacuum cleaner before. That’s how you know you’re officially old, I suppose. The attention to detail that went into this is incredible. The dustbin is compact and it’ll need emptying regularly. During testing, we frequently had to manually pull out the dirt that got trapped inside due to tangled hair, making it quite a messy job. The best corded Shark vacuum we've tested is the Shark APEX Upright. It feels more sturdily built than the Dyson Ball Animal 3, as well as cheaper upright models in Shark's lineup. It also delivers stellar performance on bare floors and does a pretty good job on low and high-pile carpets. However, for raw suction power, it falls short of the Dyson. Its floorhead is more tangle-prone, and unlike the Dyson, it isn't height-adjustable, which would make it easier to clean shaggier carpeting. Type: Cordless Upright/cannister hybrid, detachable hose and wand effectively make it a cannister vacuum as well

At the top of the handle is a LED display screen that displays the selected power mode and the remaining battery life. Built into this are buttons for turning the vacuum on and off and switching between Eco, Clean Sense IQ, and Boost mode. The vacuum doesn't have a charging station or base, making it easy to store it away in a closet or other space between uses. Seattle Coffee Gear Diletta Bello+ Espresso Machine review: enjoy Italian-style espresso every morning Shark Stratos Cordless with Clean Sense IQ IZ862H in the delivery box sat on the living room floor (Image credit: Future) Shark Stratos Cordless with Clean Sense IQ IZ862H price and availability As we previously said, it comes with a range of useful attachments which differ slightly between the US and UK models. The UK model comes with a crevice tool, dusting brush, wide upholstery tool, and motorized pet tool. The US model comes with a crevice tool, pet multi-tool, and an anti-allergen dusting brush. So just how much will you have to spend on a powerful vacuum cleaner? Dyson’s range is more expensive than Shark’s, but they are lighter, more compact and as we’ve mentioned loaded with smarts that ensure a thorough clean, which in our eyes makes them worth the extra investment. Now the negative part... and it all has to do with shark customer support and product support in general. Mallory also thinks cordless vacuums are useful when it comes to cleaning “trouble areas, like stairs, but they might not do as thorough of a job as a plug-in vacuum cleaner would. Since they’re made to be compact, cordless vacuum cleaners usually have less suction power and limited battery life.” Should you buy the Shark Vertex Pro Cordless Vacuum?
