About this deal

Mathematics, Mathematics and Statistics, and Mathematics and Philosophy applicants should attempt questions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Team Building Game –when reviewing this team building game you can focus on leadership skills, communication, group planning and working together as a team. Remember to ensure you are registered for the test by 29 September, even if you feel exceptional circumstances may mean there is a risk you will not be able take it. Richard Lissaman has a PhD in Ring Theory, a branch of abstract algebra. He has over 10 years' experience as a mathematics lecturer in UK universities and 20 years' experience of supporting students with A level Mathematics, Further Mathematics and mathematics admissions tests.

You may wish to take a look at the following online resources to help expand your mathematical knowledge. Please note that candidates are not required to take STEP, but may find it useful in helping them prepare for the MAT (although the questions are quite different in style.)

What is the MAT?

Important notice for all current applicants for Computer Science, Computer Science and Philosophy, Mathematics, Mathematics and Computer Science, Mathematics and Philosophy, Mathematics and Statistics: disruptions experienced taking the Mathematics Admissions Test (MAT) STEP Papers– Two searchable tables, one for STEP 2 and one for STEP 3, containing links to every STEP paper from 1998-2000.

However, being a group-based, it also has certain limitations such as that, the use of relevant secondary cognitive tasks (e.g., visual search tasks) is not possible. Moreover, adjustments of the difficulty level cannot happen according to each participant's current personal level. However, recent evidence suggests that even just exposure to varying levels of task difficulty is sufficient for inducing training gains ( 77), making individually-tailored training not always necessary.

The exemplary training plan does not require costly equipment and has potential for high adherence levels, taking into account the social aspect of physical activity. STEP Worked Solutions– I have created two databases, one for STEP 2 and one for STEP 3, which has links to the question, the mark scheme, the examiner’s comment, plus a detailed worked solution to the question written by myself. In addition, I categorise them by topic and outline which new spec paper the question could appear on. Additional motor/cognitive tasks (Dual-/Multi-tasking) (PC2): starting with execution in Single-task condition (ST) to Dual- (DT) and then Multi-task (MT) condition. The first question on the test is multiple choice and contains ten parts, each worth four marks. Marks are given solely for the correct answers, though you are encouraged to show any working out. Questions 2–6 are longer questions, each worth 15 marks, and again, you will need to show your working. Part marks are available for the longer questions. You should attempt four questions from 2–6, the selection depending on the degree for which you are applying as above. Tools – a set of A4 sheets of paper. There must always be less A4 sheets than participants i.e. If you have 15 participants, you only have 10 sheets.
