For me, the best part of Bannerlord is its attention to a more realistic blend of warfare. It doesn’t pander to a modern sensibility; rather, it does its own thing. This is developers making the game they want to play. At least that’s how it feels. I’m not shilling for them. Always take note of how big enemy forces are before deciding to engage - including those dwelling within Bandit Hideouts, as you'll only be able to take in a small portion of your team into them. Sometimes, waiting nearby for awhile may prompt bandits to leave and pillage the countryside, weakening those left defending the hideout. Bannerlord isn’t the finished article and it won’t be for some time. Everything about the game is janky, but its jankiness is what makes it so appealing. There’s more to do in towns and villages and it’s far easier to ascertain what you’re meant to be doing.Brilliantly, this dynamism is also evident in the economies that exist within Calradia too. Market forces such as supply and demand can directly affect the price of goods, whereas some regions can output certain produce be it farm animals, particular types of ore, wines, foods and other such commodities more cheaply than other regions, allowing you to turn a tidy profit so long as you can keep the numerous bandits and rogue legions at bay. Mount & Blade II is set in a fictional world of kingdoms. There are generic cultural regions that represent real-world equivalents, such as deserts, plains, forests and tundra. These regions are stylised with alternate buildings, units and economic strengths/weaknesses. The game is set 200 years before Warband and its setting is inspired by the barbarian invasions that mark the decline of the Western Roman Empire.

If your character falls in combat then your troops won’t have anyone to lead them and make decisions. Rather than continue with the plan you’ve set out all of your troops will just try to charge the enemy or more than likely, run away as their leader has fallen.
