About this deal

References to "Qualcomm"; may mean Qualcomm Incorporated, or subsidiaries or business units within the Qualcomm corporate structure, as applicable. The excellent sound quality is the icing on this cake, with the JBLs favouring a lively and entertaining sound. Bass weight is nicely judged and there's good extension too. Detail levels are excellent at this level as are the dynamics on offer. If you're looking to make the step up from a cheap pair of earbuds and want an entertaining sound these JBLs have to be on your list. The BNX-60s provide you with the flexibility to use them in a number of different ways: wireless and noise cancelling functionality at the same time, with wireless or noise cancelling separately, or in passive mode with no active features enabled. The BNX-60s feature a built in Lithium Polymer battery, which can be recharged using the supplied USB cable in under Sonically, they're even-handed and nicely balanced, with well-shaped bass notes. In short, they offer a lot of what makes Sony's high-end buds so compelling, without cutting too many corners. Definitely one for the shortlist.

READ NEXT: Philips SHB9850NC review – wireless noise-cancelling headphones at a bargain price Lindy BNX-100 review: Sound quality and ANC performance We have state-of-the-art testing facilities in London, Reading and Bath, where our team of experienced, in-house reviewers test the majority of hi-fi and AV kit that passes through our door. The BNX-60’s are a surprisingly good set of headphones for the price. If you are looking for an everyday set of headphones that are a step above your standard cheap set but won’t break the bank, these are for you. With noise cancelling off, bass is overly prominent and the rest of the sonic range seems to be hiding behind a curtain, or smear of vaseline; it isn’t muffled exactly, but it has to fight too hard to win its place in the spotlight from the overarching bass tones.

Bluetooth multipoint is one feature that is present but unfortunately didn’t work as smoothly as I’d hoped. Switching from a YouTube video on my smartphone to Spotify on my MacBook didn’t automatically pause the video and play the song as it would with many other dual-connection headphones on the market.Pros: Great spec for the money; effective noise-cancelling Cons: Too many controls; slightly creaky plastics You’re likely to still be able to hear nearby conversations, although these headphones still diminish their presence a decent amount. That said we’re yet to see someone not be impressed on first trying a pair like the Bose 700. Can you use noise cancelling without music?

And considering the spec sheet, the price remains jaw-droppingly low – a staple of Earfun's approach. The midrange is not affected by the bass very much, and provides a decent amount of detail. It’s quite a hard-sounding and dry midrange with some good detail there; decays give a nice idea of space in the recording and vocals are well textured and convincing. Those who have a sensitivity to midrange frequencies needn’t fear; the BNX-60 is a comfortable listen. The headphones last around 16 hours between charges and sound great with or without ANC active. Like the headphones above they can be used without ANC when the battery runs flat. There are a few other handy features missing. For starters, there’s no transparency mode to filter external noise in, nor is there wear detection to automatically pause audio when the headphones are removed. So why do I have the Sony's as well, simple reason was I was gifted some money and thought I would splash out and now use my BNX-60's in the Gym where they do a great job of drowning out the A/C, music and general hubbub. For those that can afford the hefty price tag, these are the most effective headphones, highly comfortable and built for the road. Sony WH-MX1000M3 They’re light, fold up fairly compact, but are slightly bigger and less comfortable than the Bose QC35 II. They also don’t feel as robust, but have a similar subtle styling.

As is usual with headphone controls, it takes a bit of getting used to the various button positions, but once you get that down pat, it’s fairly easy to get your head around everything around your head. These won a 2022 What Hi-Fi? Award, so the answer is yes indeed. The C500 handle the basics very well, with Bluetooth 5.0, and compatibility with SBC and AAC codecs. Battery life is a healthy 10 hours from the earbuds themselves, and another 10 from the charging case, making a total of 20.

Battery life is about 20 hours via Bluetooth, or longer via cable. Charging takes only about two hours. They have a clear and powerful sound characteristic of Bose that’s good for most music genres, but there’s no customisation and audiophiles might dislike the active Bose EQ.
