About this deal

Some essential oils are safe for kids 2 and older, and others are safe for kids 10 and up. Don't use essential oils for kids under 2 unless directed by a physician. Heat the whipped soap base in a small bowl or microwave safe container in 20 second bursts, stirring between each interval, until completely melted.

You can also take a knife and score the soap with lines before pouring the next layer. This helps the soap get into those cut lines and adhere better. Use rubbing alcohol even if you score the soap. Fragrance - I used a kid safe blend of essential oils. If you use an essential oil, make sure it's kid safe. Also ensure any fragrance oils are safe for the skin. I like the natural fragrance oils from Nature's Oils. Mica Powder - I used yellow, purple, and pink mica powders as a natural colorant. You can also use soap colorant, but avoid food coloring because it can stain the skin. Fill each cavity of soap 1/3 full. You can use the same color to fill all four cavities or alternate colors like I did. Spray the top with rubbing alcohol and let sit until hardened. Add 5 drops of fragrance oil or 2 drops of essential oil to each cup of melted soap. Add 1/2 teaspoon of mica to each cup of soap and stir well.

Glycerin soap is made with vegetable oils and has a neutral pH, so it won't make the skin itchy. Most brands don't have alcohol to dry out the skin. Polysorbate 80 - Polysorbate 80 helps stabilize the fragrance. It also moisturizes your skin. It has an EWG rating of 1, so it's safe to use in a kid friendly soap recipe. The reason that I made this unicorn soap bar a three layer soap isn't just for looks, although I like the rainbow effect. Kids don't always want to wash their hands or their body, but you can encourage them to get clean with a kids soap bar. Yes, glycerin soap is a good for a kid friendly soap recipe. It's gentle on skin, so it won't dry out their skin.

I used mica to color the kid friendly soap recipe. It's a natural colorant that's safe for kids and won't stain your tub. Cut the melt and pour soap base into 1 inch cubes. Divide evenly between the 3 measuring cups. Melt each one in the microwave in 30 second bursts, stirring between each interval. Once melted, divide the whipped soap base evenly between the three cups.

Measuring Cups - You will need 3 microwave safe measuring cups. You can use a Pyrex measuring cup or a soap measuring cup with a spout. Whipped Soap Base - This is optional, but I like to use whipped soap base for a kids soap bar because it makes it lighter. You can omit it and use more soap base.
