In the lower mids, there’s plenty of warmth and body that provides a solid foundation for instruments like guitars and pianos. The upper mids have a touch of brightness that brings out the details in vocals and other midrange instruments like horns and strings. There’s also excellent clarity and articulation throughout the midrange, which ensures that every note and detail is audible. Treble There is a vent near the nozzle and another close to the screw. The latter also controls airflow and can be taped over for several modifications. A small screw holds together the two-piece shell. Vocal clarity is just slightly more resolving and natural because of the added mid bass on the EA500 with a slightly more forward presentation both have outstanding vocals. I can see a EA500 CULT being born and have a following like the OH10 a IEM that you wont ever sell.

A small increase in treble presence is noticeable and they no longer sound quite as well rounded and punchy, instead the overall signature is a little leaner and could become fatiguing at louder volumes. There is slightly more sparkle to the treble and it is more upfront in its presentation however it does remain quite well controlled and doesn’t sound splashy or overly peaky. The chassis is fashioned from metal, with a mirror-like, hand-polished alloy faceplate. I’ve no complaints on the build front; these IEMs are very solidly made. The tuning switch board is found on the sides of the shells. Besides the alluring design, a nice spread of accessories, and perhaps admissible imaging, the Star River sink when discussing the triad of tonality, timbre, and technicalities. It is disquieting if aesthetics are the main redeeming points of a pair of IEMs, rather than their actual sound. If there is only one tunable DD king at the budget segment, the Simgot EA500 easily take the throne. Vs. DUNU Titan S With regards to technicalities, the Star River are very watered down. Imaging is noteworthy, but note edges are blunted, the soundstage is average in all three dimensions, micro-details are middling, and instrument separation is mediocre.The H-2016 curve and the response of the red ring version of this experience taper off significantly once we get to the treble area.

There is no noticeable imbalance problem in sound level difference, indicating that the quality control of EA500 is excellent. The symmetric frequency response of left and right ears brings a very solid center imaging. To conclude this lengthy review, I have to urge you all to try to get other perspectives of the EA500. I have a different take and it all revolves around the fact that in this hobby everyone is always right. These “gushing posts” are kind of like personal testimonies if you will. The nozzles with the red ring offer more bass and are aimed at the H-2016 target response from the low end and up through the upper mids. SIMGOT included two sets of detachable nozzles that are easy to remove and install. Each variant will provide a different tone and presentation. I thought it was actually a really cool design for a portable music player, with those slight curves on the top left and bottom right, but the top right and bottom left were standard right angles! Hey, SIMGOT! Design a portable music player that looks like that for me!In keeping with the V-shaped profile, the lower midrange is recessed. The previously mentioned mid-bass bleed warms this area, though the midrange is opaque due to the bass encroachment.

In terms of build, both of these IEMs are stellar. Kima has a matte finish which can better withstand scratches.The lower treble continues on from the over-zealous upper midrange, and the treble has moderate extension thereafter. The Star River are not too sparkly or airy on the first tuning option, and on the second tuning option (red/blue graphs), the treble drops off a cliff.
