About this deal

Since 2007, Olight has been a real headache for low-quality flashlight brands, even for critical reviewers like myself, just because of their high quality. The Seeker 3 Pro was one of Olight’s most popular torches, and the Seeker 4 Pro improves on it with a little extra brightness, and USB-C charging – albeit with the accompanying holster. I’d still like to see USB-C integrated into the torch itself somehow. And I would have also liked to have seen a new battery with extra capacity for longer runtimes. Especially considering I wasn’t able to confirm Olight’s runtime claims, in turbo mode at least. The holster has an integrated magnetic charging pad at its base, and a USB-C port to charge the torch in the holster. I told you there were 12 operational modes, the same 6 operations modes under two different color temperatures. The LEDs have had an upgrade from the Seeker 3 Pro. If you look closely there are hundreds of tiny holes that light up. They’re not as bright as on the Seeker 3 Pro but plenty bright enough and they do make for a more modern appearance. They still only light up in discrete 25% jumps – I would have hoped they could be made to show the exact brightness level for the stepless feature as you dial up or down the brightness.

Alternatively, if you would like to compare the Baton 3 Pro with the Baton Pro, we can state the case for the Baton Pro here. The dimensions usually increase in any tech product’s “Pro” edition. But having too much of an increment in a flashlight can affect the convenience of use. The Neutral White can crank up to 2,500 lumens for one minute in turbo mode. After that one minute, it drops to 800 lumens, which the light can maintain for 240 minutes. Olight points out how this is a 30% increase in all performance categories compared to S2R Baton II. Comfortable Small-volume DimensionsIt’s an update to the very popular Seeker 3 Pro, with a little extra brightness and a new USB-C charging option. I’d think twice before using the Olight Baton 3 Pro flashlight or most strobing flashlights as a breakdown warning light on the highway, or as a bicycle headlight strobe. A rapid frequency strobe is at a minimum, distracting and irritating, but could be seizure-inducing in some individuals. And I know strobe is sometimes marketed as a weapon but I hope you’ll reconsider that perspective. If the Baton 3 had a slower frequency strobe I’d use it on my bike. But it would work well as an ‘always on’ bike light. I like the sealed nature of the Olight Baton 3 charging system. I’ll have to remember the cable if I take the Baton 3 on travel. Some might like the universality of a USB-C port on a flashlight or built into the battery. I’m not often a cable loser, so the Olight system is ok with me.

The Olight Baton 3 Pro is a rechargeable flashlight using a single 18650 cell (included) as well as offering high output and a familiar user interface. The Baton 3 I own once lasted for 2 weeks. So, when I heard Baton 3 Pro was coming, I expected at least a month. How long do you think a full battery of Baton 3 Pro is supposed to last? This version of the Olight Baton 3 Pro flashlight is probably a Luminus SST-40 emitter, just like we saw on the S2R Baton II. But Olight doesn’t say. Either way, that emitter is coupled with a TIR and provides a very pleasant beam profile.

I’ve had success using a little magnet in the recessed terminal, but even then these batteries are oversized with their protection circuitry so the only charger I have that fits them is the XTAR SC1 Plus. They won’t fit in my SkyRC MC3000. Want more time to run the light? Drop down to level three, or 120 lumens, and the light runs for an impressive 23 hours. For most close-in work, I found that level three is very suitable.

As you can see, although the Baton Pro is 500 lumens brighter than the Baton 3 Pro, its throw distance is 43m lower than the Baton 3 Pro, and it is more expensive. Larger Design: The Baton 3 Pro has a larger side button than the S2R Baton II, making it easier to operate the button. The arms of this clip are much larger than on previous generations, too. This provides a much firmer attachment! In fact, it’s very firm. The above results are based on ANSI/NEMA FL1-2009 standard and are tested using the included battery. Finally there’s a strobe operated with a triple press of the power button with the torch on or off. Performance If you’ve used an Olight before, the user interface will be familiar to you. With the torch on, press and hold the power button to cycle between low, medium and high mode. The last used mode is memorised when you turn the torch on. If you double press the power button with the torch on or off, you’ll get to the 4600 lumen turbo mode. There’s no proximity sensor like on the Baton 3 Pro Max. But if you return the torch to its holster it will drop to its high mode from turbo.
