If more than one player survives 8 rounds, these players total up their points from the adventure cards they’ve collected. They can also score bonus points. There are 4 bonus categories and the player with the most in each category will score 3 bonus points in that category. For example, the surviving player with the most ammo will get 3 points. If there is a tie in a category, no one gets the bonus points. At first blush, this isn’t a game I’d expect myself to like. I disdain the use of the zombie theme in games — candidly, I don’t get the entire zombie craze — but it works well in this case, and this feels like a Zombie-themed road trip. Making the game from repurposed household objects and components from other games was brilliant, and everybody I show the box to exclaims how cool of an idea that was. I’m also not normally a fan of dice rolling, but it also works nicely in Hit Z Road.Last Night on Earth's tactical combat, multiple scenarios and hero survival has been replicated many times over the decade-plus since its release (including by some of the games on this list), but what keeps it shelf-worthy is its endearingly self-aware theme that focuses on cheesy fun over brains.

If you think taking a road trip during the zombie apocalypse, then Hit Z Road might be just the game for you. Watch out for zombies! The winner is the player who has the last living survivor(s) at the end of any round or the player who collects the most points when multiple players make it through all eight rounds. Points are earned on cards that were encountered as well as by being awarded the bonus cards at the end of the trip. Encounter cards will be somewhat easy at the start, but will get more deadly as the game progresses. Game Experience: Two gas can be discarded to flee zombies instead of fighting them. This is a good strategy if the card has no points on it (cards that are fled from are removed from the game) or if you just wanted the resources and/or events on the card. People also complain that there can be a runaway leader problem of the person with the most resources being able to consistently win the auction and face the easier cards, but I have never found this to be a problem in any of the games I have played. Zombie ArtPlayers start with 1 colored lead survivor as well as 4 grey survivors and place the bidding marker of their color on the auction board. They also get 4 of each resource token: ammo, gas, and adrenaline.
