M. Renfield (Tom Waits) who is wasting away in a London insane asylum, knows not that his visit will forever shape the destinies of all around him. What I have always appreciated about this film is its divergence from traditional Dracula pop culture while retaining the character's innate sense of style and portent evil combined with an empathetic forlorn essence. I can't say that I agree with the choice to cast Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder (more so him than her) however, the supporting turns by Tom Waits, Anthony Hopkins and, Sadie Frost, more than delivered. Bram Stoker's Dracula easily withstands the test of time. I thoroughly enjoyed this revisit and am pleased to see it released in this beautiful steelbook in celebration of its 30th anniversary. The majority of gowns worn by Mina and Elisabeta (both played by Rider) are in shades of green. In many cultures, green is associated with love, lust, and sexual desire. Mina and Elisabeta’s gowns also frequently feature leaf-motifs, most likely rosemary leaves, which symbolize both love and fidelity (in wedding bouquets) and death, loss, and grief (in funeral wreaths). A young English lawyer, Jonathan Harker, is sent to a gloomy village in eastern Europe. He is captured and imprisoned by the undead vampire Dracula, who travels to London, inspired by a photograph of Harker's betrothed, Mina Murray. In Britain, Dracula begins a reign of seduction and terror, draining the life from Mina's closest friend, Lucy Westenra. Lucy's friends gather together to try to drive away Dracula and rescue Mina. This film certainly is a keeper, largely due to Coppola’s daring take on it. He refused to do things by the book,” he said. “It just looks so different from modern vampire films. We are so used to CGI. When we see a modern, well-produced film that does not use CGI, we are immediately drawn into its uniqueness.” On the big screen The Costumes Are The Sets – The Design of Eiko Ishioka: A 14-minute look at the pivotal role that costumes play in the film, how they help establish the visual style of the feature, the collaborations with Coppola and more. I think that due to the innate nature of the source, those differences, depending on your level of interest, may or may not be significant enough to warrant an upgrade. For me, this is a keeper. Arthur Holmwood (Cary Elwes) -- hire the vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing (Anthony Hopkins) to destroy the creature that turned Lucy and

Liam Neeson (“Taken”) was interested in the role of Van Helsing, but the role went to Anthony Hopkins, due to his popularity after his Oscar-winning role in 1991’s “The Silence of the Lambs.” Originally released in 1992 and helmed by award-winning director Francis Ford Coppola comes the remake of the classic and chilling tale about the devastatingly seductive Transylvanian prince (Gary Oldman) who travels from Eastern Europe to 19th century London in search of human love. After centuries alone in his crumbling castle, Dracula’s taste for humanity has grown bold with desire, drawing him out of seclusion. When the charismatic Dracula meets Mina (Winona Ryder), a young woman who appears as the reincarnation of his lost love, the two embark on a journey of romantic passion and horror. As for where I fall into the camp of defenders or detractors of Francis Ford Coppola’s opus, I am a defender. However, I do recognize its many faults. I was ten years old when this film came out and I’ve had a love of classic monster movies for as long as I could remember, and this was something I desperately wanted to see. Being an R-rated film, I wasn’t immediately allowed to see it so my parents bought me off with the condition that if I read the book then I could see the new movie. I don’t think they anticipated my dedication to living up to my end of the bargain as I dutifully read the book while at summer camp that year and loved it. While I missed out on seeing it in theaters, my Dad held up his end of the bargain and rented it for me on tape when it was available at our local Video Watch. Francis Ford Coppola’s vampire tale is now revived in cinemas for its 30th anniversary, with Gary Oldman the fierce and anguished count who hundreds of years ago renounced God and embraced an eternity of parasitic horror in his rage at the unjust death of his countess (played by Winona Ryder). Dressed like the Pierrot from hell in his vast Transylvanian castle, Dracula then buys property in Victorian London, and appears there in the style of a sinister young dandy, on the scent of a woman who looks exactly like his late wife: the winsome Mina (Ryder again), fiancee to the equally demure young lawyer who journeyed to Romania to draw up Dracula’s contracts: Jonathan, played by Keanu Reeves.the top. The film's title appears in bold, blood red, reflective color center bottom. The rear panel has a lighter metallic silver coloring with some signs Oldman’s portrayal shows Dracula in many forms: old crone, young dandy, fierce warrior, and monstrous bat-rat creature. Nobody else has depicted this character in so many different guises,” he said. “The main standout in Oldman’s performance is his portrayal of Dracula as a tragic hero who rebels against God. Oldman’s Dracula does not kill for the sake of killing, but to be with his true love.” The Dolby Vision grading offers a little more luminance and brightness overall, but it does so without rendering the film's atmosphere moot or Bram Stoker’s Dracula comes to Ultra HD Blu-ray from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment featuring 2160pHEVC encoded video, and lossless Dolby Atmos/TrueHD 7.1 sound that has an average bitrate of 4.5 Mbps. From Academy Award®-winning director Francis Ford Coppola (1974, Best Director, The Godfather Part II) comes the classic and chilling tale about the devastatingly seductive Transylvanian prince (Gary Oldman) who travels from Easter Europe to 19th-century London in search of human love.

Sony has re-released the classic 1992 Vampire film 'Bram Stoker's Dracula' to the UHD format. New specifications include Dolby Vision color Adaptation liberties aside, I do enjoy this movie a lot. Again it’s visually arresting and I think for all of the stumbles Coppola makes, he makes up for it with two or three great decisions. Casting notwithstanding. Don’t get me wrong, I love Keanu, but he wasn’t right or ready to play an aristocratic Englishman like Harker. I actually think if they shifted the casting a little and let Cary Elwes play Harker with Richard E. Grant for Arthur Holmwood, with another elder English aristocratic actor playing Seward, a number of criticisms of the film would be nixed. With that, I do love Tom Waits as Renfield. Ultimately Bram Stoker's Dracula is a brilliantly perplexing mishmash of ideas from Coppola. When the charismatic Dracula meets Mina (Winona Ryder), a young woman who appears as the reincarnation of his lost love, the two embark on a journey of romantic passion and horror. Bram Stoker’s Dracula offers a study in sexual contrasts between the (at least verbally) wanton and aristocratic Lucy Westenra (Sadie Frost) and the buttoned-down working-class Mina Murray (Winona Ryder). The difference is evident in everything from their comportment to the very clothes that they wear. So it should come as little surprise that, in the film, the sexually available Lucy is Count Dracula’s (Gary Oldman) first victim. Meanwhile, Mina’s journey finds her developing many of the same erotic tendencies as Lucy under Dracula’s tutelage, the ramp up in her seductiveness once again mirrored in the costumes that she wears. He's set to be married to Mina (Winona Ryder), a London socialite whom Dracula learns bears a striking resemblance to his centuries-dead bride Oldman), who is purchasing land in London, including Carfax Abbey. Harker, who is replacing his predecessor R. impressive. Van Helsing's scars and stubble seen in close-up when he lectures before a class in one scene is perhaps the best example of the Audio Commentary #2: Director Francis Ford Coppola appears again on his own as he delves into some of the territory, but goes even deeper into many elements such as how Winona Ryder brought him this project, how they made the opening elements with reduced funds, the performances, the enduring themes and more.
